$12.99 cabin air filter

Amazon Amazon

I thought this was a fair deal. I just picked up 2 so i can get free shipping. It might stink for you NY people because you pay taxes. But overall 2 filters for $26 is a good deal in my mind.

i got quoted near $30-40 for a normal filter.

THIS IS NOT THE CARBON AIR FILTER.
Just a normal one.

It's absurd how much the dealer charges just to install one of these things.

I paid $15 for mine at NAPA, in stock. Pep Boys did offer to install one for $15 plus the price of the filter when I was calling around. Still easier to do it myself, but if you just can't figure out how to do it or want to deal with it , beats the dealer charges.

We're just talking about the air filter you replace under the hood right?

Because the "In-Cabin Microfilter" is quoted at 90 bucks total, through the dealer. Anybody know how to buy and replace this one?

Wow $90 at dealer?

I was talking about the cabin air filter - under $20 at parts stores.

Unsure if the quality is the same, but the way I see it, i've never had a car before with a cabin filter, so anything is good enough for me

I just did a search on here and found the DIY vid and stuff... But yeah, $90 at the dealer. Sounds like it won't be a prob at all to do. Thanks for your reply Mustang.

so how significant is it with cabin filters with Activated Charcoal versus particulate filters? I know activated charcoal provides additional filtration against objectionable outside odors and pollutants blah blah.. but these are double in price.. Whats the deal? Can I just get the 12.99$ TYC filter and be fine or will I really notice a difference in filtration with the activated charcoal?

I noticed no difference when I switched from Carbon to the normal cotton ones. Except I have around $10 more in my wallet.

i think the whole carbon thing has to do with your nose, i'm used to smoke smell and i cant tell a differnece in a smoker's car or not other then the obvious ashes and etc. but thats me. if your once those sensative nose peoples i'm sure you will like the carbon, but i dont notice most smells.
