Clutch Pedal Sticking

Clutch Pedal Sticking
I was driving my G on the mountain pass this afternoon. On the way up it was fine but when i hit the top and turn around to come down my clutch pedal was sticking once I made a gear change. It was when i would release the pedal it would get stuck and few seconds later it would pop out about half inch to the normal position. So i got scared and slowed down. Once i got off the pass i drove normal again and it went away. Has any one had the same issue or should i worry. I do drive spirited once in a while.

Myself and Andy2434 have had similar issues with our 2005 6MT Coupes. We both live in San Francisco, and have realized that this only happens on extremely warm days (80+), which are uncommon here. In my experience, this starts to happen after a lot of stop and go traffic. Maybe the car just gets too hot?
We are both now out of warranty and neither of us could replicate the issue at local dealers, although Andy says he may have done so recently.
I did a search a while back on this topic and found some threads in which people were switching out their fluid for higher temperature fluid.

Thanks sfgr415. It was hot on the pass like 92 my G has lil over 32K and working on changing fluids out, would altitude change anything due to living around 5600 ft and going up to 9600 ft. Yeah i live on the eastern sierra nevada and it gets real hot in the summer as well as snow in winter

You can change the fluids and see if it occurs again, chances are it will because the culprit is the clutch cylinder. Try doing a SEARCH under clutch problems, there's been several threads due to this issue. I replaced the cylinder twice with my Z, changing the fluids is a temp fix....

well, I just had a car come into the shop with this issue. the pedal would occasionally stick. hydraulically everything felt fine.
I pulled the tranny down to find clutch material everywhere. the pressure plate and flywheel were quite over heated as they were very blue. this thing was getting HOT.
the clutch material had gotten all over everything, not allowing the grease to properly lubricate. when moving the fork by hand, you could feel it binding up on the input shaft. this was clearly what was being felt in the vehicle. I cleaned everything up, gave it some grease, and everything was good.

ive had this problem about 3 times now and it is a bit annoying but since its not common im not to worried. i always thought it would be the throw-out bearing sticking but never had it looked at. glad i saw this thread. three.five it sounds like your throw-out bearing is going out.

Maybe this weekend I will get a buddy and do what pwebb did, see what happens...
I know I can search (and will), but might as well get as much info as possible... what would you guys do if I infact have to replace the clutch already? do the flywheel while i am in there? My car will never be 450whp, but i will do some light modding along the way...
