Thinking of gettin a G35. Need ALLLL the advice I can get
I'm new to the forums, but I don't have a G yet. I have a Lexus at the moment and I love it, but the G35 coupe is just so sexy. I was thinking of getting an '03 or '04 or '05 G35 coupe (the old body is so much nicer), but I had a couple of questions. What is you experience with YOUR g35? The good and the bad. Performance, handling, maintanance cost, gas cost, how often does it break down, what problems does it have, things like that. All help will greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

Bad: Gas, not cheap to mod for worthwhile gains, some have had oil consumption problems, power window motor problems, dudes get mad when their girl starts staring at your car
Good: Sexy, comfortable, overall good build quality imo, fun to drive, not slow, sexy
If you're looking 03-05 get an 05. Nicer interior/dash layout, imo, and if you get the 6MT in 05 you get the rev-up motor.

I heard that maintenance on it is a burn too. Like breaks cost 200 a piece or something like that?
Idk, a lot of people have been telling me maintaining the car is hard and the paint it bad and on and on, but I just think its so nice

Paint does blow...especially if you get OB. The front bumper on my '06 is rock chips galore.
Brakes are that bad. I did the fronts myself...new OEM rotors and pads for around $250 for both sides. I installed it myself. Rears are about the same. Not exactly difficult to maintain either. Prob is when stuff other than your normal wear and tear items breaks, it can be expensive. Maintainence costs are the typical fluid changes and such...nothing major.
Just research the major issues with the car you plan on buying. A lot of G35's have compression rod issues, as well as oil consumption issues on some of the rev-up motors (6-spd). There are other quirks as well. '03's are notorius for the HVAC/radio board going out, rear axle clicking noises, and other minor but aggrivating fixes. Research away.
Maintainence costs of a G35 i think are slightly cheaper if not equal to a Lexus.
Pimp factor?? I get more reaction in the Lexus..but that's my own personal experience. I'm almost 30...to teenage girls staring at me in their boyfriends civic stopped being exciting for me 8 years ago. I just get more "You must be doing good" comments when out in the Lex. Too bad it's slow as ballz.

I have a '07 Lexus IS250 AWD and my '06 G35x...
I love the G35 more, but the Lexus is far more reliable in terms of little odds and ends. My G35 is in the dealer today for the 3rd time for minor warranty issues, while the Lexus has never gone at all.
Would I buy another G35? Hell yeah

And as far as your Is250 goes, it's no match for the G35, the Is350 on the other hand, wayyyy different story

over all the car is a really great car to drive, especially for a daily driver.
Decent handling, decent speed and decent comfort inside.
The car has its draw backs like any other.
My main thing is gas. Super unleaded at $3.00 a gal x 13-15gal.
Brakes arent bad, thats about right $250 for a good set of brakes and rotors.
I have an 04 and still get compliments, I just got one coming back from lunch.
The window motor issue is nothing major, people make it to be a big thing, but its not.
The oil consumption is covered under warranty.
The double din JDM kit with and after market GPS cost more than anything
