Airbag Recall for 2003-2004 G35... yes 03-04 this time

hey guys check your mail, i just got a recall letter for my 03 coupe about faulty airbag module. the other posts were 05-07 recall, but i guess they've added the 03-04 now.

which is good because i had an airbag problem last year that was fixed under warranty, and would've been pricey if not.

is this something to fix only if theres a problem or take it in anyway? cus i dont think i have that problem and would hate to fix something thats not broken then end up with the new one being broken and causing problems?

its a recall, so something their studies found it more important to lose money take the hit than to let it be and fix along the way. so pretty much recalls are to remove a possible major problem, so i say go do it. but again, its up to you... tho look up the posts of people having airbag problems, and the cost of the module and work (over 1k for me) as opposed to getting the free fix as well.

Like Mitsuko said, it's a recall so get it taken care of. Especially since it's something that has to do directly with a safety component. Kind of hard to find out whether the original part is broken or not until it's too late. If that happens and Infiniti has good reason to believe that you chose to ignore the recall notice, then you are SOL.

I'm the 3rd or 4th owner of my '03 coupe. Does Infiniti track me down, or do I need to call the dealer and ask on my own?

thanks for the heads up buddy, I just called my local dealership and they confirmed via my VIN number that I'm supposed to get it done, I am making an appointment with them, they said they will take the car for roughly half the day, and it will take about 1.5 hours.

nice, good to kno this info helps. when i get home today ill get the recall number.

even before this recall airbag warranty somehow exceeded factory. last year my 03 was out of standard warranty but my light kept coming on after reset. they did the work under what they said airbag warranty. bill was over 1k in parts/labor but glad it was covered.

maybe they realized it was serious and finally made it a recall.
