Another factor I failed to mention is carbon deposits and seals. If you have ever bought a used car and started using synthetic and have the engine start leaking this is most likely why. Those hydrocarbons that build up in your oil will start to cause carbon deposits to build up in between your cam/crank seals(even rubber valve cover gaskets), this is especially true with bulk oil because it lacks detergents. Once you switch that new(used) car of yours to synthetic or even a name brand non-syn depending on the lack of maintaince you will wash away those carbon deposits leaving a gap between the seals and their mating surfaces causing leaks.

Anyways homes, I'm not sure how long you have been working on cars for a hobby or living or how much formal training you have had but my original post was one hundred percent derived from what I was taught in Toyota based automotive school and I have seen it first hand multiple times which have proved it to me. You should go out and find a few high mileage cars serviced at correct intervals at dealerships, change the oil with full synthetics, drive a few thousand miles and report back to us. I have done this a few times, almost always had the same results. Took a chance with the G35 at 90k when we got it, only one leak since which was that oil cooler o-ring so I was happy. Not sure what oils were used in it though.
The big one that proved it to me was a camry I bought from my(mentor) at Toyota for my mother. The car was the lead techs wife's car they owned from day one and always serviced at Toyota, always with dealer parts since he's worked there for 17 years. No leaks, I looked it over myself. My mother always used Havoline in her truck so the first change in the camry she used Havoline also and it started pouring oil from the front and rear main/cam seals and the valve cover gaskets within that oil change. Havoline, even though not a synthetic has detergents that bulk oils lack.
I have this problem multiple times when buying used cars because I always use synthetics.
