Avoid the Maserati, per owners reviews. These don't all compete. Trying to flex? Or enjoy a ride?

Unfortunately it looks like that's it for now for composite work in the garage. It's getting too cold in NJ for me to get anything done. I was hoping to at least get a mold made for the mid car interior brace, so I got everything ready to make the mold, then waxed it:

But it all went to shyt, either the temperature was wrong or I laid up the first layer of the tooling gelcoat too thick. It lifted from the mold and my only option was then to strip and toss. The remnants of the mold in the trash:

So it looks like that's it for this season. I can't keep the garage warm enough with the doors open and keeping it closed means the house begins to smell of epoxy and gelcoat....big time no bueno with the lady. Time to work on a few other things besides composites over the winter I guess.
Install a heater! You can pipe the gas from in the home.

I remember a few months ago someone posting on here about a website which sells vinyl to recover our dash. They had used it on their car and it was the same texture and color as OEM. Im trying to find that thread now but Im not having any luck.

Who was the person who posted it and what was the website??

Probably me. Wrapped it a couple years ago and still looks new.

Bought the black from https://www.yourautotrim.com/allsportblack.html
The high tac is the same just has that tacky feel. I wouldn't trust anything but the dap weldwood industrial contact cement

Yes!! Thanks!!

Too bad the width is only 54 inches. I measured my dash and its about 3 or 4 inches longer. Do u think I can stretch it out enough to make it work?? I’d hate to order double the material just to cover an extra 4 inches.

Also, what do u mean by high tac? Do they sell 2 different versions of the material? U recommend using contact cement to lay the vinyl? It wont stick on its own?

Nope. Have to buy two yards. It worked out perfect because the first time I attempted it the vinyl wouldn't stick to the original very well. But good enough so when I pulled it off, it took the original vinyl with it down to the foam dash. Then, it stuck to the foam no problem. So you buy two yards and cut it in half. I think you're thinking of the vinyl wraps they wrap cars with. This vinyl material just has a backing pad. The high tac is just like the phone pads they have for cars that won't slide around.

I would never attempt this with my dash. I bought a spare dash for the project ($100) then swapped them. Feel free to PM me.

Wife took the G when she went shopping, got home and the trunk wouldn't open. Had to fold seat down and reach through for the pull lever. Found some broken wires. Took the opportunity to install a Kahtec Blinking Smart Stop (Delay) Third Brake Light Module.

Also noticed some clunks while turning. Guess that big suspension overhaul I did a few years ago only lasted about 100k miles.

Cool thanks for all the info. Im actually gonna attempt this with the dash still on the car. I dont feel like taking it all apart unless this fails and then that would be my last resort lol. It looks like its gonna be a pain in the asś but lets see what happens.

I would call it near impossible to get satisfactory results. But more power to you. I went to a pick n' pull which was good practice before removing it on my car. Problem will be stretching the vinyl and cutting around the defrost vents and auto headlight sensors.

Dang that thread helped me 40k ago. I guess I'll plan for the 100k maintenance.

Surprised your trunk wires took so long to break. Super common issue because of that body line being sharp I guess. I extended and solder shrunk mine.

I replaced both upstream O2 sensors this morning. I had a CEL (can’t remember the code) for passenger side being dead so I decided to replace both. Check engine light is gone and the car seems to be running great.

I dunno how many of you are on the FB group that is mostly people asking the same 10 questions in order of (what oil should I run, whats this noise, how far can I drive on busted suspension, where the wide bodies at, how much to install LS or J2Z, etc). But I spied this OG beauty and have been questioning my wallet priorities ever since

Hey I remember that car! That's where your grounding kit came from ! He used to make them. He was a real great guy who made tons of mods for our G's. Sad he's moving on.

Sad indeed. I didn't know him but see his footprints all over. I also picked up a power steering and overflow tank of his from one of the z forums...both are quality. Am sad to see him leave the community, but thankful for his work on this platform. Hope his car finds a good home...am jelly of all the chassis bracing and the detail under the hood.
