Uh Oh...I need a new bumper
Last week while my gf was at a gas pump, someone ran into the bumper of my car. My ins company is saying there are conflicting stories about who ran into who. Since there is no witness its my gf word against theirs. So Im beginning to think Geico isnt going to pay for the damages. I have $1000 deductible so I really dont want to fork out that much money. So does anyone have a idea about how much it should cost for a new bumper cover, plus paint and labor? This could be a great excuse to put a body kit on it...lol
I think its possible to use a heat gun on the bumper and push it back out since the bumper is made out of plastic. And if my eyes aren't lying to me, looks like there are no paint chips. You can probably buff out all of the scratches and marks. Not really sure since I'm looking at the pictures on my phone

You could get your bumper fixed for less than what it would cost for a new one plus prep and paint. There are those shops that specialize in bumper repair. The one in my neighborhood is called Mr. Dent, they do paint less dent repair along with bumpers. Look in your directory for a similar shop in your area..Good Luck!

Thats a side/angle impact, how is there conflicting stories as to who hit who when its a side impact? Last time I checked, its kind of hard to be moving sideways through a gas station.

Based on that picture, your insurance company could go after the other side for damages. You'd have to pay for the deductible, have it fixed, then have your insurance take theirs to arbitration (they'd have to since they paid out). If they win arbitration, they'd pay you the deductible. It definitely looks like the other car hit yours.
I'm going through something similar right now. My wife's 335 got hit in the parking lot of daycare - other lady back into the middle of our car. She took out the door and quarter. Police filed a report, but since it was a private lot, they couldn't cite anyone. Report blames the other driver, she claimed that both of them were backing out at the same time. Her insurance tried to state that it was "shared responsibility" since it's a she said she said deal. But my insurance took on look at the picture and police report and said it's 100% their fault, we'll take them to arbitration. They even said it's hard to claim "shared responsibility" when you back into the side of someone's car. That's what the police officer said as well.

I usually carry the $1,000 deductible as well to save money on insurance premiums annually. Although, its always a risk with stuff like this. You can usually get a new bumper cover for $200-$400 and then about $300 to have it painted at a body shop, its almost always gonna be less than $1,000. As others are saying, I would pull this one off, bump the dent out and have a shop do the rest...
