did the price of used first gen g35 coupes go up?
Totally understandable on their part. Their fanbase got screwed for American profit. Unfortunately for them, however, I really love the car. Haha.
Actually, I had some Japanese guy come up to me and tell me Nissan is more respected than Toyota in Japan, but in America Lexus is more luxury than Infiniti. I (obviously) don't know **** about this, but he was pretty serious. He was admiring my car while he was saying it tho, so I took it with a grain of salt.
So, anyway, sicksixspeed, why can't you just call it a g35? No ones getting uppity about you calling this platform a "nice car" or a "quick car" or anything like that, but why must you call it a 'skyline'? We're in America, and here its called an 'Infiniti G35'; why can't you just call it a G35?

Nissan has always been the platform for spending/upgrading their platform to be better than others if you decide to go further... Hands down, Toyota/Lexus has made some great cars that have blown Nissan out of the water...But if you decide too build your Nissan the right way, I believe Nissan will and can prevail in their own ways....

What's wrong with rice? Its good
I don't think he means that the G35 is a GTR. What he means is that the G35 is a Skyline ( but not a GTR). There is a difference of course.
Basically the G35 is a rebaged Skyline 350GT for the USDM. In Japan there is no G35; they are all Skylines. Just like there is no IS300 (its a called Altezza which is the same car, different badges).
Does it matter that we're in the US? Who cares really. But the Skyline 350GT is exactly a G35 with different emblems. It is sold as a Skyline 350GT in Australia, Canada and other countries. If you bought a Skyline 350GT in Canada and drove it into the US, does it become a G35? NO...

No big deal other than people trying to convince people that they have something no one else has. No big deal right? Except they're trying to make it some kind of big deal.
There is always newbies on here that don't know the JDM Skyling/USDM G35 facts. And it's not like they use the search button to look it up, especially if there are on their first thread with people talking about it.
Newbies don't tend to stay long with everyone picking on them. Then you just end up with a few, long time posters bickering of the same old stuff and nobody can learn or discuss anything without ridicule.
Let's share some car knowledge, experience, and mods, not fight But that's just me.
Lately, G35 prices has been dropping like a rock. I've seen some beat to hell G's going for as low as 5 grand. Getting really cheap there.

Nissan was very smart in changing the name for the us market because they already knew people like SAYWAT would end up buying a used one for 7k and ricing it out and diminishing the skyline name. so in a way they protected their brand. Regardless the g35 has skyline blood running through it.
