Japanese doing USDM.

Flipping through my japanese Hyper Rev magazine, and I noticed some Skylines with Infiniti and G35 badging. So I went to a site mentioned in the mag and found All the Infiniti replicating parts. I visited a few sites and realized that its easier to be and Japan and mod to USDM, than it is to be in the US and mod to JDM. I found this interesting (but not necessarily suprising). It was also a "Topic" in the magazine about the conversion, but I can't read japanese..... yet.

Depends on the color. It's a nice contrast on some.

I guess anything to get away from typical is nice or at least desirable

I think this also has to do with the fact that Toyota just officially launched the Lexus brand in Japan.

My boss really wanted an RX330 but they're real expensive over there, so he bought last year's Toyota Harrier (same exact car) from someone who had already spent thousands on the car converting it into a true Lexus (steering wheel, seats, mats, exterior emblems, engine cover, wheels, side sills, etc.). My boss, who lives in Japan said he REALLY wanted a Lexus and not a Toyota, but he wanted to pay cash so he was looking in the slightly used market. When he found this guy who had already converted it (for the most part), he was ecstatic. Over there Toyota is just so plain and normal that this new Lexus thing has them all excited.

I figure the same can be said for Nissan. I think the average Japanese consumer knows what Infiniti is and because of Lexus coming out they want to same eliteness.

Funny, since we're spending money over here to change our Infinitis back into Nissans; at least some people are.

Yes it seems to be quite common practice to swap badges.
Here is my skyline I bought in Japan last month.

I went to the auto parts store Autobacs few days ago. They were selling Infiniti, Acura, and Lexus emblems, and they're not cheap. I wish I had brought my owner's manual and key chain, could've sold it here.

My last car.. (Lexus IS300 Sportcross) I actually traded some Lexus stuff to a guy in Japan for Altezza Badges. Steering wheel logo, rim logos.

They should make Datsun badges for everything. Take it back to the old school.
