You sound like you're at the same stage I was recently. It's tough to see all the 4-5 second 0 to 60 cars running around and not want to go buy one myself. There's nothing wrong with the G; it's just a case of "been there done that". If I hadn't already been driving the G for the last 3 years I'd probably still be obsessing over the car now! I think that would be true for any car - whether it was an M3, Vantage or anything you just get used to it and want a change.Originally Posted by SWAT311
So here's the deal. I've had my G for almost 2 years now. The past year has been fun with the modding and stuff, but it seems like the car is just not as fun as it use to be. I've been contemplating going FI for awhile now, thinking it's the lack of power compared to some of the other cars out on the road these days. And like alot of you know, it's not cheap! Yeah I could just throw a Vortech on there, but is it worth it? Does it make that much of a difference? Those are some of my questions. I'm having a hard time talking myself out of either doing a simple FI job, doing a complete engine build with my G, or just getting rid of her and going with something that has the power. i.e. Corvette, M3, GTO, Charger SRT 8, etc. As you can see, I haven't narrowed any choices down, but I'm losing that 'G love'. Have I really lost the 'G love' or is it just a faze? Any advise out there? Has anyone else gone into this "I need more power, or I'm gonna lose the G" faze? Sorry for the venting, but it seems like I'm looking every where else, and thought I'd throw my thoughts out here. I have tendincies to be an impulsive buyer, and I would hate to make a move and then regret it.

Jonathan
The way I fixed my need-for-speed was to purchase a 1300cc motorcycle! When I don't feel the car is fast enough I go jump on the bike and head for the canyons. The bike will hold me until the new cars come out. I'm waiting for either the new Skyline or the next gen M3. After that the clock starts for another 2 or 3 years...

But as of this point, this is the best car that I can realistically own but fortunately not much out there compares to it.
Man. That V8 Vantage is HOT!!! That's one of the very few cars out there that has sexier lines than the G.
+1 on the AM V8 Vantage. VERY COOL CAROriginally Posted by badtziscool
That's just the way it is. You get used to what you have and then you start regretting it when you don't have it. Unless of course if you replaced it with something better, and I say if you can, then go for it! Ask me if I would pick a G35 and mod it like crazy or go buy an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, I'd pick the Vantage in a heartbeat. But as of this point, this is the best car that I can realistically own but fortunately not much out there compares to it.

Honestly, I have been there. So here's what I think, if you have the money, work your @ss off and don't really have the time to enjoy yourself, then you should definitly get a car you are very happy with. If you can't get that feeling from the G, then get something better. like the M3.
Life is short, time is short especially at your age range. You can always make back the money, but not the time. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Now go and get the Real Car what you are always dream of getting at your affordibility.

you are right it was twilight blue, the dark almost navy looking blue. If it isn't called twilight I am not sure what it was called

As someone who has owned a BMW M3 and several Porsches, I can reassure everyone that what you post is true. Even with $90K Porsches, you become accustomed to the performance over time, and then the question arises as to whether or not you are getting enough enjoyment to offset the significant price for these high end cars.

No matter what your going to want something better, faster, etc.
Even if you go FI your always gonna want a bigger turbo or supercharger.
I say buy a project car and work on it with the money you plan to spend on the G35 and I guarantee you will love the G even more. Now you just have to stop upgrading the project car lol thats my problem.

Yes, my other vehicle is the family mini van, driving wife and two kids around on weekends, so I am very happy with my G during the week, happy and content. So, after you are married, you will appreciate your G even MORE.

Don't worry kids...Swatson is back in love and will be joining myself and others in the world of FI. Look for Swatson to come back with a vengeance!

*Just thought I'd throw in this update, I decided to keep the G. I've already ordered the vortech kit along with some other goodies. looking to have it installed and tuned by the end of the month*
Thanks to everyone who offerd their opinions, it helped alot.

It's good to hear that you kept the G, but I hope you do understand the headaches that come with adding forced induction to an NA car. I'm not trying to **** on your day, but be prepared for little things to go wrong, weird sounds, failing tensioners, boost leaks, and tuning issues. I don't know a single person with a non-factory forced induced car that isn't a shadetree mechanic or has a seriously close relationship with a shop. These guys always seem tinkering/fixing something on the car. Hopefully you do have alternate transportation when it's needed.Originally Posted by SWAT311

LOL, put her away for a week and then take her for a spirited ride. You'll fall in love all over again.
