I started with a v6 (mazda 929) and I intend to stay in this category. But in your case I would go with Z. Kids think it's cooler then G.

Or better yet.........Why not EVO or ZUBARU?

i would shop around and get the car you like around 40k.. i let my parents choose my first and it was a lincoln.. it was cool but kind of an old person car.. ahaha leave it to me to complain about a 45k first car.. if you get the g... just be prepared to get pulled over like crazy and whatever you do... DONT GET RED! he prolly goes to a nice school so he shouldnt have issues with getting it messed up.. school i went to kids were driving new corvetts/beamers/mercs all day long.. just respect whatever you get and youll be all good...

my 2 cents

Go for it. Why not. I had a blown vortech '96 cobra when i was 16. As long as your responsible and RESPECT the power before you start playing around you should be fine.

i say go for it

i was 16 when i got mine too.

unless you're one of the immature slobs that fill that age group today.

get it for yourself, not to gain popularity, or girls or w/e

if you're willing to take care of it, and not cut corners..

get IP (white)
dont get black, it will drive you nuts, esp. for a first car

and yea, be careful where you park at school
someone b*tch keyed my car on the last day

Maybe i'm oldschool but i dont believe in your parents paying for your car. They can help you get a car but buying you a G35 and you are only in highschool is rediculous. My first car was a 62' VW bug that i paid for including insurance. You must be asian for your parents to buy you a car like that cause i guess thats the culture.

^ my first car was a galant too! 1998 white one...

My opinion, yes to much power, but you parents are offering you the car...i dont think you can say no, ask for another one and get a G later. Take the G. be responsable.

I wish my parents got me a G

Take care and stay safe with everything you do...

If your parents think you can handle a G35 Coupe at 16 then by all means take it, but don't do anythign stupid because 1 accident and your insurance is screwed even more! Just be careful with it and be responsible, don't show off and don't street race and you should be fine.

PS.
I got my G at age 19 but I bought it myself...

I think you should get a beater first to practice on. Just wait at least a year before getting a G. How about a 18th birthday present? I started with a 93 altima when I was 16, and I've gotten into like 3 fender-benders, and blew out my suspension taking a corner too fast and slamming into a ditch. I know you might feel that you're responsible enough, but as a young kid, I guarantee you that one of the days you'll do something stupid, like I did. And it only takes a second to get yourself into trouble. Plus, your lack of experience will cause a lot of dings and dents on the G.

Just get a beater to practice on, for at least a year. You'll respect the car more, and you'll think twice before you do anything with the G... I know I do! Anyway, whatever you decide, good luck!

go get a 240sx and use the extra dough to slowly mod it out and learn about cars and what youe doing before you progress. tell your parents you would rather spend half the money and get an old car to mod. this way you learn something and can have a bit left over to go to a racing / driving school too.
