A/C auto off at WOT?
I've noticed this a few times and figure that it's not a fluke or aything. Here's the situation, I'm in my car, the ac is set to "auto-econ", and the fan is blowing full speed. This is the only time i really open my car up from a standstill, when i'm getting on the freeway. So the light turns green, and push it hard to 80, then shift not 6th to cruise with the rest of the traffic. (i live in Phoenix and the speed limit is 65) Then i notice that the air coming out of the vents is warm, like the outside air, not cold the way it was when i was sitting at the traffic light. So my question is, do our cars "turn off" the A/C when we open them up so that the compressor (or whatever it is) doesn't rob energy from the engine? Otherwise, why does my car blow hot air for a few minutes after i drive it hard?
Most people wouldnt even notice........
But yes, the car does this to save it's self, and to allow more performance out of your G.
Actually most if not all new cars do this to prevent the ac pulley to be overspun thus killing your ac compressor.
I actually noticed on my car when the ac was on the car lost like 15 hp

Some work off of manifold vacuum and some off of WOT sensing. I gives you more HP. I don't know how much, but it's not like back in the 60's and 70's when an AC comp REALLY took some HP to run. The new rotary types don't take near as much.

but it saves HP so it's all good. I thought i was loosing my mind.
thanks bro
I haven't tested it with my sedan, but when I was in FL with a rented Grand Prix, the actual fans would turn off completely when I was at WOT.

i remember my old VW GTI, with the A/C on it was driving a totally different car because it robbed so much power from the engine. I love my G even more now
.
Cool got to try recirculate, Since its been getting HOT in S.FL, I was wondering about this. Since I never really noticed it before.
In a rental I had when someone rear ended me, when I WOT that thing the Air would come out warm instantly lol.
