Almost killed myself and others - Scared the $hit out of me
Don't know if this has ever happened to anyone here (I sure never read anything like that on the forums here, or anywhere else for that matter), but if someone knows what the fck it was, i will sure like to hear it.
I was driving home from work on a 2-lane pkwy (speed limit is 55). I was going at it but not too much (probably around 80-85mph). As I approached my exit, which is a long and straight moderate downhill, I started downshifting with rev-matching. I knew I was going too fast and decided to take it from fifth into 3rd and revved the engine to about 5000rpms to match the wheels speed. As I disengaged the clutch, expecting the car to catch up I almost took a dump in my pants - the 3rd gear engaged but instead of experiencing an engine brake - the car TOOK OFF!!!
I was now going down hill towards a T-intersection with a red light. I was watching it in horror for a split of a second while the tachometer was climbing from 5000rpms all the way up to 6700 (red line), as I realized something was wrong (everything took less than a second or two), I quickly depressed the clutch to stop that crazy a$$ downhill dash - but to my horror the engine hit the red line and started pounding on the rev-limiter. At that point I saw that nothing else works and if I don't act fast I may fck the engine up real good (it hit the rev limited for about 3-4 straight seconds). The only thing I could think of, was shutting the engine off.
I turned the engine off and somehow managed to bring the car to a full stop (without any steering or brakes hydraulics) - inches in front of the intersection. I felt like a pilot who had a $hitty landing on a carrier's flight deck bringing the plane to a full stop inches before deck ends...
I was shaken pretty well and just sat there for a moment to see if there are any Check Engine lights or something - nothing, the car just sat there with accessory power working. When I tried to start the car it wouldn't start
. I tried a few times but to no avail. Finally, I thought of giving the gas pedal a quick stomp before starting it, when I realized it was stuck - to the FLOOR. THE DAMN GAS PEDAL WAS FLOORED - Had I not acted quickly I could have killed someone!
A quick step on the pedal released it. I tried starting it again and it did - flawlessly. I sat there for another second or two - revving the engine all the way up to red line a few times to make sure that sucker doesn't get voluntarily stuck again - but it was OK, as if nothing happened.
....Has anyone here experienced/heard of anything crazy like that?

i had a similar situation. had to throw the car in neutral and kill the engine, then slow down without power brakes or power steering. check your floor mat - it may have slid forward and saught on the pedal.
OMG
that is some scary stuff...
If I were you, I would report it to Infiniti ASAP and get a case going... maybe it's only your car, but there's a chance it could happen to someone else, too. At least let Infiniti know that there's a potential problem they need to address

Could have been the floor mat or you could of had the cruise on with knowing it. That would cause the car to take off when you went into 3rd and would take it to the rev limiter.
Glad you're ok

Glad to see that you are Ok Speed. If you had been driving a car with a carburetor, I have seen stuck throttles. I had a '67 427 Corvette that had a stuck throttle once in a parking lot. The car went to redline and accelerated so quickly, I only had time to shut the car off and depress the clutch. Scared the heck out of me. I was always leery of that car after that.
As for the G, I have never, ever heard of a stuck throttle. Wonder if there was a vacuum or electrical glitch that caused the rev up of the motor? I would definitely report this to Infiniti ASAP. I know I would be a little afraid to downshift aggressively for fear of a repeat episode. Sounds like the unintended acceleration issue Audi had some years ago. Perhaps it was a problem in the drive-by-wire throttle. Too scary, even for Halloween!
