tranny problems at 5500 miles?

Yesterday my 6MT out of the blue started making this rattling noise when taking off in 1st gear. Also when down shifting into 1st it takes a second to go into gear and makes a high pitched whine when going back down to first. All the other gears seem to be fine. Anyone else ever have a tranny problem like this? I'm taking it in this am.

You have to get the input shaft spinning if your trying to get into first while rolling over 5 mph, or else it will be gated.

Try this...

Roll @ 5 mph

Clutch in, put it in neutral, clutch out, rev upto 3K rpm (while in neutral), clutch in and attempt to put it in first while the revs are still up, it should go right in.

Mine has about 4500 miles and it has done that since day one. I took it to the dealer and they told me that it is normal. As is the vibration when you let go of the gas while still in gear, but I kind of like that, it makes my arm tickle.

it is normal if you look at the trans the input shaft has alot of room to move around which causes the noise

Well, I took it to the dealer and he checked it out. Then he brought around a brand new one and told me to take it for a ride to compare. Sure as sh*t, the new one is exactly the same. I actually don't drive the G all that much since I drive my truck or motorcycle. The wife usually has it. Most of the time if I'm in it the kids are yapping or radio is on, etc. Soooo, I guess I just didn't ever notice it until the wife brought it home and said, "hey is this normal?" Since my neighborhood is so quiet I could actually hear it, where I never noticed before. Oh well, I got the car washed for free, lol. Thanks for the suggestions, fellaz.

Youre not suppose to downshift into 1st gear, unless youre going under 5 mph...

Some Noise Is Normal...

If Your Trans Makes A Little Noise At Idle Thats Normal, If Your Trans Makes A Rattle Noise When In First Gear Around 15 Mph,.. That Noise Is Not Normal And Is A Know Problem With O6 Models... The First Gear Is Loose On Its Shaft Or Starting To Have A Small Amount Of Play, Your Trans Needs To Be Replaced...

I got a g35 coupe that has 6 miles on it delivered to my house (on top of a truck) I drove it for a short while and when i hit 20 miles on first day i started hearing some rattling sound. it sounds as if something is rubbing off (the sound is exactly like wheels spinning on sand, but sound is coming from the engine not tires, and sound is not THAT loud). This particular sound only appears when i take off from 0 on 1st gear. It's a 6MT btw.
now i hear clunks most of the time when i upshift, downshift, or do anything. this is really starting to concern me. the car only has 400 miles on it now after 2 weeks. has anyone had that?

The clanking is because of you not perfectly equalizing the clutch and gas.
