Rattling Sounds!!
Rattling Sounds!!
So i turned on my car today and am hearing some weird rattling sounds.
If the clutch is depressed, the sound goes away.
I only get the sounds when I sit in idle that's when it's the worst, or when i'm just rolling in gear. When i'm accelerating I'm guessing it's just moving to fast for me to hear or feel a distinct rattling.
When I'm sitting in idle, I can feel every "rattle" through my stick. Anyone know what this is? My friend said i might have chipped off a tooth on one of my gears which might cause it. I guess I should get this fixed asap but what would happen if i just drive with it for another 300 miles or so?
THIS SUCKS!! But thanks for all your responses in advance.

The dealer said it's the bearing between our 2 discs in our 2 disc clutch system which is suppose to take stress off the tranny if you drop the clutch to suddenly at high RPMs. Does anyone have more knowledge about this?
So I'm guessing that bearing is called the throw out bearing as chilibowl said?
Is this normal? He said that they don't need to fix it and it will go away after awhile, is this true or should I be adamant about getting it fixed?

The transmission is connected to the engine via the clutch. The throwout bearing isolates the release fork from rotating drive components. See here for more details. If my throwout bearing was making noise I would get it replaced. Depending on how many miles you have on your clutch I would replace the pressure plate and the clutch too. Most of your cost will be associated with pulling the transmission. Also, I don't know what they mean when they say 'two clutch'.
Here is a pic from our service manual.
I only see one clutch
. I hope that it was just a misunderstanding.

he probably meant that it's a dual-mass fly-wheel. my '05 (and other's) displays the exact same symptoms. i've been told that it's normal, just like my clutch chatter. when i push down on my clutch pedal i also get small unusual feedback, similar to the feeling of pins-and-needles. it's just nissan quality at its finest.
I had the same sounds on my 2006 coupe with 3000 miles on it and the dealer replaced the whole tranny. Also my tranny started making a whining noise from 2000 rpm and up in 1st through 4th gear. The serive manager said the problem was the throw out rod assembly (which includes the bearing). Go to the dealer and have them check it out, you might get a new tranny out of it like I did.
