Increase Performance

I bought a g35 a few months ago totally stock what would be the most reasonable priced cold air intake to help increase performence?
K&N, AEM

or is there anything better cheap then a turbocharger (obviously) to increase the cars performance

Stillen Cold Air Box or keep the stock one (it's already getting cold air). Some people have said they have problems with oil from the K&N getting on the MAF and messing it up.

I've read these forums through and through. I previously had a honda, where aftermarket intakes make a noticable difference. But from EVERYTHING I've read on these forums, and a few others, it doesn't do much of ANYTHING for our cars as an early mod. Gives a more agressive intake sound and...well... that's about it, other than a registered HP increase with the butt-dyno. For the $200-$300 an intake would cost, if you want real performance, look into a Motordyne or Skunk2 plenum spacer.

I'm not sure which is better, but they both seem pretty good from what I've found and will DEFINATELY net a MUCH better perfomance gain over a CAI. I have read a few threads, very few, that make mention of a CAI making more of a difference in combination with/or after other mods have already been done. But again, the concensus here will likely point you in the direction of a plenum spacer, and if you're feeling like you have more money to burn, an MREV 2 along with it.

yah as a few of the guys already said.. intakes dont give performance (well they give like 5 hp lol) but people buy intakes mostly for sound.

for performance, id go with the mrev2 and the plenum soacer given that you have a rev up engine.

This may be true but
if you know how to clean and reoil the K&N filter this won't happen. It just
needs to be re-installed dry. Not something I'd be doing unless it was a
warm day even in Ca.

Use an Amsoil or AEM dry filter and forget the oil. You might as well as not have a filter than put a K&N in dry.

I have an extra new AEM Dry Filter (cone) if anyone needs one. I can't use it. PM me if you are interested.

wrong wrong and more wrong. This is not the case. Stupid Stillen fans. Both K&N and AEM CAI's are wonderful and one of them should be your first mod.

A CAI on our cars is def going to help exspecially in the high MPH ranges. You will loose a bit in your low RPM, but once you get above 60 and you punch it...if you line a short ram up and a cold air and make them run at 60MPH you can def see the pull by the one with the CAI.
