arghh, dont know if the other guys car was modded but he beat me, we raced from light to light from a complete stop, i had a pretty good take off using auto, but he steady caught up and past me, not bad tho, but he stll managed to pass me up, sigh, what am i doing wrong? i had vdc off, mustang gt are only 250hp and plus they're heavy with their cast iron engines, so how could he have beat me, he must of have something under his hood, sigh... help me out guys, i want to show this guy what a g can really do, but i managed not to tonight

 

Now there may have been some factors there. Either you should of have gotten a mt or the mustang had some thing extra under the hood . By the way what is your hp rateing? It gets better.

i don't know how fast it is.. but looking at its stat, new mustang GT has 260hp with 302 torque, and about 400lbs lighter than g35c. sounds pretty fast, i think it will be a close match if they both are manual with equal drivers. how far was he ahead of you?

 

Shouldn't have happened. I have a 6MT, and the other nite, at about 90 on the freeway, a Cobra pulls up beside me, and floors it. I downshifted into fifth, floored it, and took him. I have the plenum and a set of fabricated dual exhausts utilizing an X-Pipe Magnaflow.

I hate Mustangs!(not really, just used to love the rivalry)..lol. I used to love spanking poontangs(mustangs) with my '01 Camaro SS. They started it and I ended it. I guess I egged them on with my personal License plate "I8ASTNG"..lol The funniest mustang kill was this guy who kept egging me on with his brand new '03 cobra....no plates left..so I finally said "oh hell..let's do it"(mind you the '03's have slightly more HP than my stock ss)...but I beat him, .you should have seen the look on his face, especially at the next light when I told him "you could have saved 3 grand and got an SS"..lol Damn, I miss spanking poontangs....I guess a TT will be in the works eventually.

 

Lou, what year Cobra? You have to go back several years before you find one you can beat with a stock G. Even modded Gs find a challenge with 2003 Cobra. It's a beast, even more so in roll-on races. They don't handle as well, and are nowhere near as refined, but the one I drove would smoke all non-FI Gs, and even some FI'd ones:

eurog35, do you have an auto or manual tranny?

 

There are plenty of guys running stock GT's to 13.8's and 13.9's all the time... with a decent driver, there's no reason a stock GT couldn't edge out an auto G coupe. Should be a pretty decent driver's race though.

 

eurog35 mentioned he had an auto. So do I and I have smoked a bunch of the new stangs from a light.

I beat a GT over the summer, but it was close. Maybe had him by a car length. I don't know if it was auto or stick, but I'm assuming stick, since he was revving at the light.

Next time buy your sports car with a side of 6 speed. Unless its a Ferarri, auto tranny's are only so good at putting the power down.

I am not suprised.

The G35 is a great car, but its NOT fast. Its very heavy, and it seems pretty slugish to me.

I know that the V6 mustangs are the biggest pieces of shAt ever made. Im sorry, but those things are so haggard. But i think the GT does have a big advantage over our car.

#1 the GT is still a V8, and slight mods can make big HP gains, that for sure spank our Gs. Also V8's are usually good at picking up at higher speeds.

#2 we are out torqued, and this doesnt help when the G weighs as much as a truck.

#3 And sorry your Auto tranny, didnt help you either, definatley some HP loss. (no offense)

Now dont feel bad. Because in fact i DO think that you were the underdog in the race. I know it is a RUSTang, but dont worry. You lost, knowing you have a Skyline, he won knowing he has a Mustake.

Oh yea PS- My friend and i were driving around in town, and a 95 greeen GT mustang pulls up next to us. We were in a 2001 BMW M3!!!! So light turns green we go for it! That damn mustang hung with us, then slowly crept for the lead, and stayed half a car in front of us!!! For a light and half. DUDE i was so MAD, the M3 we were in hit a 13.1, 1/4 mile, at the SAC. track!! So the moral of the story is, dont feel too bad... your car didnt cost $60,000 and lose to a crap box!

eurog35, was your vdc off? It might have attributed to your loss.

Did you use the manual-shift option on your AT? If not, use it. Also, how many miles on it? When I started out, my AT was running as slowly as 14.9s, even with VDC off, in "drive" mode. Switching to manual-mode has consistently cut my times by .3 seconds. And up through the 6000 mile mark, the car has been getting faster. I'd say I have a consistent mid 14.3 car now, without mods. That's faster than most of the GTs I see at my strip, but not so much that I'd expect to win every time. Unless, of course, there was a turn involved...

please... like i posted long time ago... i beat a GT w/ a friend in my car... the GT onli had the driver... my 5AT was stock at that time... i had VDC off, good start, shifted near the redline... it was kinda catchin up at high speed but eh... couldnt beat my baby...

driver yelled "too fast! i cant even race it!"

newaiz... i think the GT u raced had lil mod or something... there could have been lotta factors playing in ur race

 

i traded in my 2002 mustang GT five speed for my g35c 6mt and I have to say that even though I havent really gone all out in the g35 yet cuz im still breaking it in, my GT didnt really feel that fast. Yea it has a lot of low-end torque, but once you get up at high speeds i didnt really feel it pull that much.
