dude it's the easiest mod by far, as what cchao said, hold the **** with both of your hands, and try to make it not moving around if it's a manual, and just use some muscles to twist it counter clock wise, once it's starting to turn, just keep unscrewing, everything will make sense once you give it a try, just got back from the club, something I said might not make sense.....so just do it!

not as easy as turning it counter clockwise!!!

I'm assuming you have a manual. I just did this mod last month on my 05. It’s conceptually easy but hard as hell to do if your shift **** is on as tight as mine was. Be very couscous if you don’t want to damage or bend your shifter. You need to pull up the piece of the center console that the **** sits in (it is a clip-on piece) to get access to the shifter. Use a vise grip to hold the bottom of it so it doesn’t turn and get damaged. Use another pair of vise grip to turn the **** counter clockwise (using clothe to protect the **** and shifter). If you can get another person to help you, should be doable. The dealer will probably charge an arm and a leg.

I did, I wasn't really sure if not using one would cause any harm to it, but I figured it's always better to be over precautious. Better safe than sorry.

what im wondering about is the twisting off/on of the shift ****.
I used a vice grip to get it both on and off...

did I do damage to my transmission by not having another vice grip on the bottom?
