shaking/vibrating steering wheel ? alignment? help!!!
hey g owners, i need some advice well i just recently put on some 20's with brand new tires mounted and balanced...ever since i got it on the car for about a month just recently that i've been experiencing with long trips of 70-90 mph with the steering wheel a lil shaking/virbrating and a noticibly a strong steering to the right on flat level freeway....so i was wondering if it could be the 20's being so large going really fast that causes it to shake/vibrate OR do i need an alignment just because i put on some 20's...keep in mind that i haven't had this problem until recently but the 20's been on for almost a month already...thanks in advance

+1....then check your rotors, pads.............last I would have the axles checked....GL
You should do what Andy said first. Remember when you go higher like 20's you might sacrafice a little bit of ride quality. Its strange you said that you never had this problem before. Man might it be your wheels and tires you runnin on? If rebalancing doesn't work try a 4 wheel alignment.

It's balance.
Tires can shift on a wheel in the first few miles of driving (.25 - 3"), especially some low profile sizes and wider tires. Chrome wheel are more susceptible as the inside lip of the wheel is also chromes/polished, so the bead doesn't necessarily seat immediately as well as it will after a little driving and heat build-up.
Typically, any vibration over 40MPH (at speed) is balance. Don't go nuts checking everything else in the world, unless it just stands out.
An Alignment is a good idea to help get rid of any unwanted wear patterns that may already be present, but wont do much about shaking or vibrations, unless your under heavy thrust. For an alignment to cause a vibration, or better, resolve a vibration problem, suspension parts would need to be replaced as well as tires because of wear, especially because this has only happened since the new wheels and tires were installed, likely not the issue.
