A beep after the key is turned into OFF
A beep after the key is turned into OFF
I the past couple of weeks I noticed a strange thing. When I shut off the engine I hear a short (~0.5 sec) beeping sound that comes from somewhere in the console. It sounds like a real synthetic sound not a squeaking or air pressure release. It is much softer than the beep the security system makes when I push the button on a door handle. What can it be? Repetitive hallucination?
do you have an aftermarket stereo installed? Just a thought because my old pioneer makes a warning beep after the cars off to remind you to take the face plate off. Wierd sound if its from the G. Maybe theres a short in the unit that tells you have you lights on or keys in still.
Nope, the car is as stock as it gets.
The bad thing is that the behavior is not reproducible well. It happens occasionally and it is heard the best when I shut it off in my garage. The sound is similar to the open door chime but it sounds softer and the door is not open yet when it happens.
I'll try to find a reproducible way to get this sound and it may lead to a conclusion of some sort...

So far I can only add that the sound it makes is not just a single tone. There are two tones played in quick succession, and they come from either the dashboard or the console.
Are you sure it's not something in your garage making the noise, and you just happen to catch the sound on occasion when you turn the car off because there is no more engine noise muting it out?
I've heard of people parking in their garage and thinking their car was making a weird beeping noise, and then after a few weeks they figure out that it was actually the smoke detector in the garage making the random warning beep that some alarms are designed to make like once every minute when the battery is low.

mal_TX, you rule! That is my freaking Motorola PEBL that is making this sound upon BT disconnection!
