*just bought 04 coupeand need help*

i bought a used 04 g35 coupe without the remote key fob and i was wondering if the 06 07 key fob can be programed to work on my car. also is it posible to put the factory navigstionsystem in yourself or does the dealership have to do it..

If by 06-07 key fob you mean the inteligent key, no i dont think it has been done. As far as the Navigation goes it is very expensive and almost impossiable to put the factory navigation in your car, but there are many good aftermarket units.
welcome to G35driver, but next time search before you start a new thread.

congrats on the new car.

if you're talking about the intelli key fob then no it will not work. You can pick up a key fob on e-bay for pretty cheap and programming it will take you like 5 minutes.

as far as the factory navigation goes. there have been a few people that have put the factory navigation into a car that didn't come with it from the factory. However it's been a huge project for them as it's quite a difficult project. I doubt any dealership would do this for you.

If you must have a built in navigation i reccommend doing a double din conversion to your dash and getting one of those fancy head units that has all that stuff built into it installed. There are some people on here with some very sweet setups that do way more then just navi, such as rear view cameras, dvd players, microwaves, x-boxes, playstations, Atari's, coffee makers, and flux capacitors.

I have verizon and subscribe to their navigation service for $10 a month and I'm more than happy with it, but that's just me.

I looked ino the same thing when I got my 04 as far as the navi goes....

Everything I've read basically said 1. It's a super big PITA, 2. It takes all day to do and thats with people that actually have a good idea of what they're doing, 3. aftermarket units have more features.

There are a ton of posts about people who have installed double din navi units and all the added features.

Just buy an aftermarket unit. I have the OEM Navigation and it's not even close to impressive compared to what aftermarket units can do at a fraction of the cost... plus you have to buy new DVD discs from Zenrin if you want to update the maps on the OEM unit and they cost like $290 each.

yeah, like partyman said, i'm not impressed with our navi. sure it's better than not having one, but for the price of a factory system, i'd go with an aftermarket one.

^^^ i agree with jax. the search function on this site is not the greatest. aren't forums here to help out newbies? yes, some questons can be answered by simply searching, but some answers are hard to come by and reading thru the posts become confusing cuz everyone has a different opinion. i remember when i first got on here, i asked a lot of questions cuz it was just tedious looking thru countless threads and being frustrated with the search process. people like partyman took me under his wings and would give me heartfelt advice like..."take it to the dealer" now that's help! *teardrop*

mikeyd215, welcome and ask away my man!
