for those with Road Hazard Tire Coverage

i was told, any damaged wheels and tires caused by road hazard will be replaced at no cost for 5 years. this was optional when i purchased the car. if you have taken full advantage of this service contract, how was your experience? how deep was the damage and how long did you have to wait? thx for sharing.

Re: for those with Road Hazard Tire Coverage

I bought this but my dealer told me at time of purchase it only covered "road hazards" that caused the wheel to no longer hold the tire or "road hazards" that flattened the tire. He also said to call it a "road hazard" and not to say that u hit a curb...
I have knicked 2 curbs and 2 of my 4 wheels have minor scratches but based on what i was told, i dont think they will do anything for me but I havent tryed either.

Re: for those with Road Hazard Tire Coverage

I have never heard of a road hazard type of program offered by any dealer or even a wheel shop that included the rim. For tires yea, but not the actual wheels. I guess they could, but I'm sure it would have to be pricey, as I have seen tire road hazard deals going for anywhere from $10 to $25 a tire for like 2-3 years.

As for the tires, I've never opted for any such road hazard program on any tires I have ever bought, as I never find those programs to actually work. To much fine print, and you never get anything for free IMO, but a friend of mine swears by it! He's blown out several tires he's bought from Cost Co and because he got some special road hazard warranty at the time he bought his tires, anytime he has a problem, he goes back, they charge him a $10 service fee and then they either repair and or replace the tire.

Sounds like a solid investement if you're one of those who gets flats and blow-outs a lot, but read the fine print! Its easy to be sold on such a warranty, but when the time comes to actually put it into use, you may hear a diferent story. . .

Re: for those with Road Hazard Tire Coverage

stvincent,

My dealership (Costa Mesa Infiniti) offered me the same coverage for $190. It repairs or replaces tires and wheel (even aftermarket) plus all labor (mounting, balancing, valve stems, tire disposal, etc) up to $4,000 within 4 years with no maximum number of occurrences. There is no deductible either.

I've only had my G less than a month, so I haven't had a chance to use it.

Re: for those with Road Hazard Tire Coverage

mine was the exact same...$190 but for 5yrs/60,000 miles...covers tire and wheel...no service charges or deductables which is why i jumped on it!!!
only fine print is what i stated above...the wheel must not be able to hold the tire seal or the tire must not hold air...if either occur they fix for free
might need to find a road hazard for those 2 scratched wheels

Re: for those with Road Hazard Tire Coverage

Mine cost more than that, I got screwed, I think I paid about $300. But, I have already used it to replace the rear pilot sport tire because of a nail. The bad thing, it took discount tire almost a week to get it, partly because they ordered the wrong tire at first. Then, after the right tire, it was about a week. Luckily, I have another vehicle.

Re: for those with Road Hazard Tire Coverage

Ok I'm REAL curious now.

I got this from my dealer. He said they would fix ANY damage, even if I curbed it myself. Which after 900 friggin miles.....

So I need to call them but havent had a chance to yet. I got REALLY jerked around by the dealer I went to so I'm curious as to how this is going to go now. Theres a little nick on the rim but F- that...i paid for the coverage I want it replaced. Should be interesting to see what happens when I call.

Re: for those with Road Hazard Tire Coverage

I bought my tires from American Tire Co. Can't remember if they come with the warranty or I had to buy it, (i think it came with it) but for every problem with the tire, whether it be a nail or a blowout, they replace it for free. No service charge or anything.

Re: for those with Road Hazard Tire Coverage

You can go to any Just tires and buy road hazzard for any tire. It doesn't have to be purchase there either, they just have to see the tire.

I was told "NO, it has to make the tire/wheel unuseable"...but..MrCynical said...

Re: for those with Road Hazard Tire Coverage

I didn't get the coverage when I picked up my G, but I will probably get it when I pick up my tags(I'm going to tell them everybody else paid $190, not $295)
The info the dealer gave me said "road damage" and the dealer said make sure I say it was a pothole, not a curb.

Re: for those with Road Hazard Tire Coverage

Yeah I'm gonna try and call Friday...I'm kinda busy tomorrow.

I'll just say I was on a tore up section of freeway, got out and saw it or something.

But believe me...I WILL get my rim replaced. Regardless of what they think their policy is. I have witnesses as to what they told me, and worse comes to worse I'm not above causing a major scene. Hah I've done it before...
