headlamp recall for 2006 - 2007 G Coupes
I live in British Columbia and was just informed of the headlamp recall 2 days ago. My dealership simply said the reason for the recall is because the lights are NOT bright enough............. strange? So I read the recall campaign bulletin ITB07-011 from Infiniti and correspondance between the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administation and Infiniti, and now know the reason for the recall. What I'd like to hear from other G owners who have had the refit done is how YOU personally feel about the way the new headlights are performing. Also, knowing what you know now, would you do the refit again? Thanks

Got the post card re: headlight recall a coupla weeks ago... called the dealership who advised it was a minor "relay issue"... and they'd address it the next time I brought it in...
I think not...
IFIR... it was an "aiming issue" for the projector headlights, and the fix was to change the rear of the housing (to one w/less range of adjustment) to lower the upper line of illumination (more pronounced lowering on the left unit)... I never went for it when it was a "fresh" recall, hence the later post card...
... moot issue...

UMMMM I dont think its brightness we are dealing with fellas. I had the recall done already and the took pics of how it looked before and after. The lights have a blurry cut off that caused glares for the opposite side of traffic.. With the new ones the lights have more of a define cut off. Do some searching you will come upon this thread about the recall.

The recall was due to aiming issues. Nothing physically changed with the headlights. The projectors did not change, the lenses stayed the same, same cutoff, same bulbs, they reuse your ballasts so its impossible that the lights got brighter or dimmer. The only thing they did was fix some people's cutoff which were off from the factory, probably messed up countless others by installing incorrectly.

just got mine done a few weeks ago.. got a brand new headlight assembly(whole head light housing + projectors).. they use the same bulb and ballast. the reason for the recall is because the cut off line was off and it blinds on coming traffic. i did not see much difference in brightness but the cut off line looks sharper than before.

You must check to see if your car applies to the recall by the VIN. Once a INFINITI Dealer pulls up your VIN in the INFININET software writing a repairorder, they will see if your VIN applies...
IMHO, wait till you damage your headlights some way and then get it done if it applies to your vehicle.
BUT, IF someone is saying something about your headlights causing an accident and you neglected getting the advised safety recall done, you could have some issues...
