I filled up 18 gallons the other day and i've only driven 125 miles and i'm almost half-tank. WTF. I drive like a granny, shifting at 2k rpms and on the highway i rarely rarely drive past 65 mph.

Also WTF... I made a 5 mile round trip to taco bell and my gauge dropped 1 whole notch, and i was granny driving.

WTF so i got 5 miles per gallon on that trip???

LOL i don't know what was up with me when i wrote that. After reading that now it sounds funny, all the WTF's.

But seriously, 5 miles per gallon on that trip.. Something has to be wrong. Tire pressure is good, spark plugs changed 5k miles ago, clean air filter, and i have an aluminum foot as opposed to a lead foot. Any ideas why this car would be getting horrible mpg. Its an 03 with 110k miles.

i get 280 miles to the tank and the is absolutely 100% city driving, obviously not TOTALLY following the speed limit, just realistic speed in the city, so is that good or bad?

For the past few months I've been tracking the mileage on my 06 G and comparing it to my 99 Civic. I'm actually surprised that the difference isn't greater...the guys at work don't believe me. As of right now, I'm averaging about 400 miles per tank in my G, and 300 (I can push 320 sometimes) miles per tank in my Civic. In a month I spend an average of $381.33 on premium gas for my G, and $286.00 for regular unleaded for my Civic. That's only a $95.33 per month (average) difference. That's a price I'm willing to pay to drive a G.

With 100% city driving, shifting at 2k and light throttle, I have achieved around 17-18mpg (250 miles on tank, and filling up at 14-15 gallons used). Generally, with some spirited driving thrown in, I get around 15-16mpg. This has been consistent since day 1.

I bought the car in NC and drove up to Boston and I got 500+ miles to the tank. Obviously, 99% Highway.

With that said, I tried to replicate that on my way from my home to my school (Boston --> Cleveland = ~670 miles) and the best I can do was around 460 miles to the tank. But this could be because I had all kinds of junk packed. I'll see what I can achieve on my way home during a break.

Sigh, i'm really trying to get some good mpg, and i'm lucky to get 300 out of a tank. It is bone stock and i actually drive a few miles under the speed limit, and i'm like a turtoise at the lights too.

The EPA on the car is 18/25. Theoretically, if you fill up the 20-gallon tank and drive the car on a flat surface at a constant 65MPH , you would go 500 miles before the car runs out of gas.

Mileage is affected by a slew of things: the gasoline you use, the condition of your engine, tire pressure, driving conditions which include city, highway, hills, altitude, lead foot, etc etc etc etc.

Door to door, I commute 150 miles round trip to work, pretty much a straight highway line, no hills, traffic flows pretty well. In my old Passat, I was getting 31 MPG driving normally going 75 MPH, even though the EPA on the Passat is 29 MPG highway. I calculated it myself, not the car's computer.

With the G, I haven't really calculated how many miles to the gallon I get, and now that I'm used to the clutch (had some early "hiccup" issues there going from a Passat clutch to a G clutch) it has gone down ,but I have driven 2 1/2 times to-from work (450 miles) on one tank with no light coming up.

Personal experience, Exxon Premium gas gives me better gas mileage than other brands.

You are either reading it in Kilometers or you are only driving downhill...
420 miles to a gallon comes out to about 25 mpg. Not even in my civic hatch I used to get those numbers.
