Lower windows before disconnect battery?
From another post about sat radio installation, in the instructions it warned the installator to lower both windows before disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery.
I was wondering if this is necessary for disconnecting the battery after the break-in period to clear the memory.
I assume it has something to do with the windows automatically lowers when you open the doors, and if the battery is disconnected while you open a door it might cause some malfunction.

Re: Lower windows before disconnect battery?
The dealer went through this with me during the walk-around. If the car has lost battery power you have to push down on the door while you open it so the window glass won't break. The hinges are designed to allow you to push the door downward sufficintly to clear the glass. Likewise you cannot shut the door with the glass in the up position,

Re: Lower windows before disconnect battery?
Hey TimSuper, As all the guys have said, it's important to understand what the 'fully closed windows' do after the doors are opened and closed: The fully closed window will jog open 1/4 inch when the door is opened to allow the window to clear the door frame. Similarly when the door is closed (and again if the window is fully closed) the window will jog back up to it's fully seated and sealed position again.

Re: Lower windows before disconnect battery?
that last 1/4 inch where the window meets the rubber shouldnt really matter that much im guessing......since they usually tint well below that, about a half inch below the black rubber on the bottom of the window
