This thread has become SO off topic lol. Who cares if it's a luxury car or not, bottom line is either deal with the gas mileage, or sell it and get something else. I'm not rolling in money, but I still manage to afford the car, but either way you're still paying over $4/gal for gas.

Loaded Maxima = ~$30K
One of the reasons I went ahead with my G35 purchase is that it wasn't all that much more than the Maxima was, by the time I factored in the features I wanted on the Maxima.

I think you over estimated the price of the "average" pickup. Just did a little checking, and a midsized F150 (extended cab, XLT, 4.6L V8) was about $27000 suggested retail. Now, you CAN go overboard on every option, crew cab, etc, and spend over $40K, especially if you also decide on 4x4, leather, etc. But i suspect the average F150 is less than $30K. Now, if you factor in 3/4 ton and 1 tons, the prices do go up too. Or you can do what I did 6 years ago. Buy a 5 1/2 year old pickup for considerably less than new prices. Unlike with my G35, I didn't have to buy new to get what I wanted.

Average pickup = $35 - 40K
Average full size SUV = $30 - $50K
Average diesel = $40 - $60K
Average mini van = $30 - $40K
Loaded Honda Accord = ~$30K
Loaded Maxima = ~$30K
Loaded V6 Altima = ~$30K

I paid $33K out the door for my 05 Premium Sedan 5AT. Average.

I don't know where "Bid D" is... but in all of Southern California and much of the nation it is an avg priced car...

Maybe in "Big D" a G35 is a "Big Deal"?...

Not knowing where Big D is tells me all I need to know. If you're such an indiot that you seem to think that a sub 40K car is average, well you my friend must be from "Beverly Hills". Gee whiz. An average car anywhere in the "U.S.A." would bed somethoing like a 15-10K Corolla or a Civic. Some of you morons also seem to conisder a 40K truck to be an average truck. No wonder this country is going to sh%t. Holly f@cking sh@t!

Average means in the middle. Are there a lot of cheaper cars than the corolla? No. Lets say 15k is low end, 30k is average, and 75k is high, 100k+ is super.

So the G35 is average, and you are a ****ing retard.

You are right about the average car is a G35 and its price. Because all of those $100k+ cars equal out the $18k base models. Therefore bringing it up to ~$40k. However, how many people can afford average? I can tell you that a single parent(with only having 1 child, imagine 2 or even 3 kids) making $40,000 a year can not afford that car without making large sacrafices. And the last time I checked there are more and more single parents.

So I think both of you are thinking right, its just you two are not on the right path. But no need to start calling names and whatnot.

That is why I said, and continue to stand by, that a G35 is not something everyone can afford and is a luxury vehicle. Because if most people could afford them, would it be correct that more than 80% of cars on the road be a $40,000 car? That is deffinately not the case around me.

In December 2003, the sales-weighted average new vehicle sticker price was $30,481, 2.0% higher than in November 2003 and 4.6% higher than in December 2002.

^^^(this is for 2 posts above) re-read post #115... I don’t call people out or let them know what a-holes they are unless they flagrantly use crap like "idiot" and "moron"... the guy is less than bright to say the least...

The G is a semi-luxury vehicle... I wouldn’t even really consider it a luxury car necessarily.

Just because it's not a base priced car, does not make it anything more than it is = an avg priced nice car. I don’t know why it’s so hard for some people to grasp that.

As for who can afford one? Whatever - there are enough cars to fit everyone’s needs... used, new, sporty, utility, etc, etc...

Yea I understand. I was just stating that towards everyone. No need for it yah know. Anyway, I know the G35 is no where as luxurious as some cars are but compared to the average car sold, it is. Ha, wow we are very off topic.

Back on topic, yea the gas prices suck but dont buy this car if you are going to cut corners. Although thats with everything.
