Seat belt rattle

I have an 2 month old coupe and the seat belts rattle on the side molding on both the driver and passenger sides. Anyone else experienced this problem?

Re: Seat belt rattle

it's kinda annoying... it's one of the G35 rattles. you have to find a specific position so it wont rattle against the side panel, and make sure it's not in between the side panel or door (when extended) and the seat itself esp. when closing the door. the seat belt has a poor design i think...

Re: Seat belt rattle

jake,

If the drivers side seat belt is on (like the law states) that rattle will stop.

If the passenger seat is empty, you have 2 choices.
1. Take the metal part of the belt clip and rotate it 180 degrees on the belt, so that the metal clip is facing away from the plastic pillar.
2. Recline and translate the passenger seat back, so that the belt is "pinched" between the seat and the door. The adjustable arm needs to be forward to keep the seat belt clip off of the pillar in this case.

That will take care of this vibration... Now onto the others...

Re: Seat belt rattle

I attach the passenger belt to the passenger seat (the vinyl part) with a little patch of velcro, no worries now.

I have exactly the same problem. I was thinking of wrapping the buckles in something thick and soft, but I have to admit I've never even really looked at them. I'll have to do that one of these days and see how you "Take the metal part of the belt clip and rotate it 180 degrees on the belt, so that the metal clip is facing away from the plastic pillar. "

Re: Seat belt rattle

my rattle is part time. sometimes the plastic from the belt, near the buckle touches something.
before i try the velco, i might do what i did with key for the wheel locks, put it in a good wristband (ie. as used in basketball or tennis). this way it wouldn't rattle round glove box.

Re: Seat belt rattle

I used a rectangular piece of velcro about the size of a dime and it holds it well at any recline angle. I'm sure if I want to remove it the adhesive will clean off the vinyl just fine. Best part is that it's stealth.

If you do it, be sure and put the softer velcro piece on the belt itself, because when a passenger belts up, the velcro will be right at their belt buckle and if their arm rubs against it it will be nice and soft as opposed to the scratchy part of the velcro.

Re: Seat belt rattle

Your seatbelt should be on - solves driver side problem. For the passenger side I have an Infiniti shoulder pad thing that stays on with velcro - looks good and solves the rattle.

Re: Seat belt rattle

i've driven many cars, but doesnt have this seatbelt rattle to that you have to secure/fix when not in use (pass. only!) anyone experienced it in other vehicles? because i may be wrong but i think infiniti has to redesign this, we're the one fixing the problem for their product. dont get me wrong...still love the car though!

Re: Seat belt rattle

I just rotate the seatbelt, problem fixed. But if it really bothers you and you don't have a frequent passenger, say on the way to and from work M-F why not just buckle up the seat belt to keep it out of the way if its that bad.
