what do you guys consider "beating" on your cars?

I used to beat the ***** off of my G35, but once I put the turbo kit on the car there was no need to beat on it because I had enough power at 4k rpms.
Same goes for my G37, the power on this car is much better than the g35, and I dont feel the need to beat on it.

I believe you are beating your g when you get out from the car and there is smoke everywhere and people looking at you like you are retarded and dialing 911. Oh and you wasted full tank of gas in ten minutes, and you never got it out of first gear.

The rev limiter is there to PREVENT engine abuse. Otherwise, why have a limiter?
Hitting the limiter does no damage; it's simply is an electronic cutoff for the fuel. No fuel = no power. The engine speed drops and the fuel comes back on. If you're foot is still to the floor, the revs go back up, hitting the limiter which again, cuts the fuel. These cycles repeat until you lift your foot. Flooring it at the limiter has dramatic effect but does no harm.
The VQ35 is a hell of an engine and can take some punishment. Constant high revs will wear the engine faster, so you should be changing the oil more often and servicing it more too. Servicing your car regularly is probably more important than how many times you hit the limiter.
Good thread by the way.

I beat on my car, I drift it a few times a month, auto-x it and am an enthusiastic daily driver. I shift @~6800 or so quite a bit. . .
Even if i had a Porsche I'd drive it like this. . .a cars purpose is to be driven. .
saying this though, I don't neglect my car, I check all the fluids regularily and maintain it very well. . .

I read 1/2 of the threads in here and well with my $.02 by meaning beating the car is that don't dodge bot holes, bottom out, don't clean (its your wife at least to me), don't do maintainents, burn out too often (haven't done), hit red line everytime taking off. Other than that, my 04 coupe is hitting 125K mileage (that's with 2nd car as a winter beater and a 04 R1 for nice summer's days) and my shift points between 3K RPM to 4K RPM for city, hwy is way up. Boston to Miami/Orlando 1, Montreal (lost count), 2 times in NY, Connecticutts few times, Jersey and back non stop for 2 days beside taking dumps at rest area, Foxwood and Mohegan (lost count), hwy run (90%+ people in here do), a lot more to list but with all of that I'm still on original OEM clutch. *alright, I'm gonna knock on wood for that*
Enjoy and loving my G still everytime I drive it.
