It's a known problem and your dealer should know it. It's in the TSB list. I had the same problem and had it fixed. No problems since.

Unfortunately, I am not from Jersey. It was meant as a joke. If it offends fellow Jersey residents, I will change it.

It's the nozzle

I remember once pulling into a gas station with a nearly empty tank, and the nozzle would click & stop almost immediately after I started pumping. After a few more futile tries, I simply drove up to the next pump and everything went fine.

I think what's happening here is that our gas tank receptacle may have been built such that it has a lower tolerance of variance in gas nozzles. Maybe a slightly-out-of-spec nozzle/pump (incorrect pressure, etc) that works just fine on most cars doesn't on ours.

One thing to remember is that gasoline is very volatile (i.e. splashes easily), and to my understanding that's what the auto-stop mechanism works with - splashbacks. So it's not hard to imagine this may all be a tolerance issue.

It's like a scratched up CD not playable in an ordinary CD player can play just fine in a $2000 player (stronger laser, better pickup mechanism, etc).

Re: Problems Getting Gas Into The Coupe??

I'm with gsg: a LOT of us are having this problem and Infinity needs to address the issue. I do a lot of long-distance driving here in Texas and sometimes you're 300 miles to the next gas station. It's all I need to be stuck in a podunk town with 300 miles to go and I can't get more than 6 gallons into my tank. If someone knows the TSB then please share it so I can show it to my dealer.

It has happened to me. There is no known fix. There is no trick to get the rest in. It happens. Read somewhere it is due to the tank "double bladder" design.

I usually forget about it as soon as the hot air coming out of the vents starts to melt my thoughts.............

I don't remember what the TSB# is, but you don't need it. Just tell your dealer what's wrong and they'll fix it. Sorry I lost my receipt so I can't tell you what they replaced. I went to Metro Infiniti in Monrovia if any of you are So Cali folks.
