Angry G35= Cop Magnet? How to avoid tickets & keep license? Help!!!

Over the last year since i got my silver stock G35 coupe, I've really slowed down my driving but somehow I've gotten a lot more tickets @ 5 tickets for 1 year !!!
I can't keep going like this or I will lose my license!
Previous Cars I Owned that have been driven like hell with only a max of 1 ticket per year: Toyota Supra Turbo w intake and exhaust, Toyota Celica with headers intake and exhaust, Scion TC with supercharger. Suprisingly, even with performance parts, my previous cars ended up getting less attention from cops than my stock 04 g35 coupe that i drive waaaay slower.

Should i sell the G or not? Help me decide and answer these questions:

1) Have you noticed an increase in tickets since you've gotten your G over your previous car?

2) What are the top cars cops look to pull over? Civics & Infiniti's?

3) What car would be nice and sporty but not get a lot of attention from cops? BMW Coupe?

4) Is it just a problem with the area I live in ? Too many cops in Tampa, FL?

5) What are the best ways to avoid or get out of tickets after or before issued?

6) Has anyone else thought about selling their G because of tickets as well ?

7) What's the best defense against tickets? Passport 8500 x2 ?

Although you might not have changed your driving habits, it is possible that your driving itself was initially attention-drawing to the cops and still is getting the attention from the cops. So maybe you should change?

1. Try getting rid of the loud exhaust or when you spot a cop, just let go of the gas so your exhaust doesnt drone, but if its all shiny, theyll know its modified
2. Get rid of the black vinyls (wherever they are)
3. If you drive with loud music, lower that volume
4. If you're young looking and dress in a particular way (like youre out there looking for trouble), you can also get profiled... even something stupid like loitering

Overall, just dont give any reason for them to pull you over

And radar detectors like the Passport is NOT a defense from tickets... it "detects radar frequencies".... go figure huh?

I had over 20 tickets in 3 years I owned a G

Only 8 of them were found Committed

It's not your G........it's your ability to fight the ticket.

1) I haven't received a single ticket since getting my G35 in 2006 - geriatric gold err Serengeti Sand - in color (when I picked the color the dealer asked if I was sure - said it was a color usually chosen by "more mature drivers"). In my old Honda Civic I averaged about one ticket every couple of years. My driving style hasn't changed that I know of - about 10 or fifteen over the limit. Did one year in Northern Cali and two years here in Colorado.

2) I think this would depend on your local population of cars. In my part of Colorado there are a lot of SUV's and pickups so they're the ones you see pulled over. There are just a few infinitis and I've never seen one pulled over.

3) Pick something common to your area.

4) No idea. We have plenty of cops here and had plenty in California.

5) I've gotten out of several because I'm pediatrician. I've always been honest (ie admitted I was speeding) and apologetic. Never tried to lie either (I'm on my way to the hospital). Only sure way not to get a ticket I know of is not to speed. A bit boring though. No easy way to get out of them once they've been issued.

6) No.

7) Not speeding. Laser is just too hard to reliably defeat.

learn your local laws

it's too much info. I once made a thread about it but mods thought that it would be best to delete it.

Easiest thing to do is become a member of Pre-Paid legal and learn how to properly behave during the traffic stop.

And if any of you feel like flaming this guy.........DON'T.

it's not a secret that our economy is in the sh!tter including Cities and Counties budgets.
So writing more tickets is kinda a way out for them.

You don't necessarily have to be breaking the law to get a ticket now days. You simply need to not know the law.

Stop running at yellow light, stop speeding up to beat yellow light because that can be speeding, stop speeding. Once you're on the record like that, it's hard for them letting you go. Plus, they must have know your car/face by now. So whenever they see you, they'll say "i'll get this idiot again".

Take it from a lawyer.

If a judge remembers you and you are a lawyer it's probably a good thing. Judges themselves are lawyers and we often socialize outside of work.

When a judge (who sifts through hundreds of cases per day) is remembering youI as a defendant on mere traffic tickets that's a problem. Because, as in hot air balloons, punishment for repeat offenses only goes up.

Here's the cheapest and best advice you are going to get from anyone:

Don't break the law. Clear and simple.

Don't mod your car in a way that will attract attention. Because ATTENTION is exactly what you will receive in return. ATTENTION from the police.

Having driven a G35, unmodded of course, for going on 6 years, stopped not once for a ticket. There goes the theory of the G35 being a "ticket magnet". Just prior to getting the G35, I did get pulled over once while driving my BMW 5 series. Officer warned me about a headlamp that was out.

Must be that the BMW E39 5 series is a ticket magnet.

I have a loud exhaust. My car is agressive looking, i have tints. etc etc etc. I have never gotten pulled over in the G. The main reason is because I never gave them a reason to. I drive the speed limit. Stay on the middle lane. Never chirp the tires, never speed up if there is a yellow light. etc etc etc. It is the way you drive that they look at.

I did get tickets on my other car, a toyota highlander. I got a ticket for doing 40 in a 35 zone. For not yeilding to a pedestrian (but that got dismissed) and another ticket in my work car, which is a scion xB. Cop said i was doing 75 in a 45. After the last ticket, I always stay in the middle lane and follow traffic. I always make sure some one is in front of me.

you don't go asking for attention, you usually won't get it.

it's not the car, but the driver.

Khundkar's, right on! You need to make some drastic changes in your driving
habits. Trust me, it's not the car I received 27 moving violations between
my 16th birthday and my 20th. That's with 3 different cars, so it was my
driving habits thinking I was "Rickey Racer!" Costly paying for the tickets and
the increase in insurance that was already high....time to wake up!
