I was driving my car on saturday in Tiptronic mode, when all of a sudden the revs went way up, and the shifter got stuck in tiptronic mode. Couldn't move it back over to Drive. Also, car is stuck in neutral. Luckily, I got pulled over free of harm and called Infiniti roadside service. About an hour later a flat bed was there to take me to Nalley Infiniti here in Atlanta. I dropped the car off (it was about 5:00 so service was closed) and they gave me a G sedan for a loaner. I'm still waiting to hear back from them. Does anyone think this sounds like the trans is gone completely? Do you think they will give me any trouble about replacing it? The car has 9600 miles exactly.

i'm having some issues with my AUTO tranny as well. Mostly in Tiptronic as well..... when i'm in 2nd and slowing down.... all of a sudden the car would just JERK and bang into 1st with a loud bang. Been going on ever since i got the car. and always when i'm at low rpm and slowing down... but not really stopped yet

anyone with the same problem???

Everyone with 5AT has that problem, my friend...well i dunno about sedans....

I've never heard a "loud bang" going from 2nd to 1st. Not all 5AT's have that. Maybe you're not driving it right? You can't downshift to 1st too early.

As is my understanding of my car from driving around in MM is that if you're slowing down it'll drop from 5 --> 4 --> 3 --> and then if you come to a complete stop it'll bypass 2nd and go to first. I've shifted into 2nd before and then had to stop and the car jerks slightly but I've NEVER heard a loud bang before. God I hope my car doesn't start doing that.

Count your shifts you only have 100,000 [factory life test] isn't it nice they will change it for 70,000miles [well 69999]......smart owners will find a way to get a new one at 55-60k if they drive with vigor/mods..........just that is a new design and not much high mileage history [in the hands of abusive owners] yet.
