So I took the coupe in for it's first service today (not to name names, but um, Cerritos Infiniti). As part of the servicing they decided they were going to wash my car for me...with my Colgan Bra STILL on it.
I'm still stupified at the stupidity!!!

Sorry to hear about your experience. A lot of us on the forum like to tell the dealership (when we take it in for service) NOT to wash our G's when we're handing our baby over to them.

With the bra on, you'd think you wouldn't have to say not to wash, but some are pretty "thick"------haha.
Next time you'll have to say
NO WASH!
-- thank you.

Quit honestly, it never dawned on me that anyone would ever wash a car with the bra still on it. Live and learn...

The dealership around indy has free saturday carwashes for BMW and Infiniti owners. I didnt know it was going to be a couple highschoolers doing it by hand. After waiting a half hour, I looked outside and my car was out there. Nobody told me it was done, and it looked like someone took one swipe with a sponge down the side of the car and then rinsed it off. I ended up going to a carwash down the street because i was too embarrased to drive it in public. Wont make that mistake again.

I was going to ask the same thing!
I would never let anyone else wash my car!!! Especially a car wash or dealer where they use the same dirty rags on every car. I have frozen my *** of in the middle of winter washing my car and not being able to dry it b/c the water froze! Yeah, that was fun!! Not to mention almost breaking my *** on my driveway!
Hopefully in the future when I get a house, I will have a drain installed so I can wash my car inside! That would be nice!!

It being my first trip in, I guess I should have realized it, but didn't really think about the fact that it would be done. Fortunately, most of what they did was spray it off with the de-ionized water machine and then wipe it off (except for the area under the bra or course).
They had actually wiped off the outside of the bra, but there was like a river of water running out from underneath it. My first thought was that they had broken a coolant line or something.
I pulled the bra off at the dealer myself, making sure they realized how freaking simple a task it was, and left.
Fortunately, a good once over with the Z6 back at home put it right back to normal. No obvious swirls or marks.
Now all I have to do is wait for the bra to dry out. I hate driving around without it...which is exactly why I bought it!
So much for that dealership....

I never let anyone wash my car. ESPECIALLY not high schoolers. Only becuase back when I was in high school, I remember a particular incident. This girl was entrusted to bring the washing supplies. She brought Tide... Yes, that's right... Tide LAUNDRY detergent... And no, not the liquid... Tide POWDER!
I brought a TurboWash at the time, so I think I was safe. But, I was cringing whenever I looked over at the folks washing cars with rags and tide powder. I remember them complaining that the powder wasn't dissolving.... I do remember people stopping by, donating money, but saying they don't want us to wash their car. I thought they were nuts at the time, but I understand now
But anyways... Yes, I too have washed my car at odd times. I remember this one time I was washing my car because my parents were coming over to visit. So it was like 2am, and I pulled the car outside to start washing. It was like 20 degrees fahrenheit or so outside, as I remember the water kept freezing on the driveway. (which is sloped by the way). I kept slipping and water kept freezing on the pavement and the car. I had to keep hosing down the car and the driveway to melt the ice. I'm not sure if the neighbors noticed. But at least I didn't have the leaf blower at the time
More frequently though, I've been known to wash the car while it was raining outside. My neighbors usually had a stupified look on their faces, as I waved to them while washing my car. I've also gotten the occasional funny look as I blow dried my car with the leaf blower after driving in the rain...

Nice to see someone else washing their car in the rain. The way I see it free water and and an "auto rinse". Do it all the time.
I too live in Indy and my wife can never understand why I don't let Dreyer wash the car. I just role my eyes. I do show up for a free donut now and then though.
