bearing or tire?

hey guy i gave 03 coupe and i was wondering if the bearing is on its way out?
i get minor vibration from the front because i know i have a bent rim, but then theres a tire rubbing noise from the back of my car
(driver side)...today or firday i might put my maxima 17 s on it, hope it fits and see if i have the same problem.

how hard would it be to change the bearings? or the entire assembly?

anyone knows any good deals on rims with tires...right now looks is not an option because i want to drive

a tire noise you can feel just by rubbing your hand over the tread. it should feel smooth and have an even feel with no choppiness. any raised sections you can feel will translate into road noise felt while driving.

a bearing is a metal on metal noise that will increase with vehicle speed and usually be loudest between 40 and 55.

wheel bearings arent that bad. air tools will make your life easy.

try on a set of known good wheels and if still vibration or road noise like then it's bearing. It's not that hard on bearing. You can get the whole hub and bearing at dealership for under $200 and it's easier to swap out the whole hub. Do a search on bearing and there are few instruction threads. I did mine right before I let the G go, 1/2 an hour for the first timer.

quick question. I'm 99% sure I have a bad bearing in my 05x. Is that considered a warranty item or is that "wear and tear" item? I've got my bumper to bumper till Nov. '09. Just trying to see what cash I have to lay out as it will be the first time in the shop for my X (other than oil changes and such)

I kind of want to add my problem here as well.

Just read vhtran that if I have road noise, it's probably a bearing problem.

My quick description of what I am getting:

When I drive 50 mph or more, I get a road noise vibration coming from the front driver side of my car. It pulses. It will make the noise and I will feel the vibration for about 2 seconds, then it will go away for two seconds. It will keep repeating. Anything under 50 and I'm fine. I'd describe the sound and vibration as driving over a road that hasn't been repaved in a while.
It has really started to bug me. So this would probably be a bearing problem? I took it to the dealership, but they said they couldn't find a problem. I think they just didn't try that hard and didn't care.
