How to fix slight dent in rear bumper
Guys,
I've been reading of ways to fix normal dents on this site. However, I have more of crease/faint dent on the rear bumper that is about 2 inches long. You can only see it at certain angles but it's driving me crazy. Techniques i've come across for dents vary from blow dryer to boiling water. I can reach the back of the crease from the license plate area. Will heating it up and pushing on it from the back of the rear bumper do the trick? On another forum someone told someone else that they should pour boiling water on it and it would push itself out. What do you guys think?

I had this happen once, a soft dent where paint was not scratched and did not break the surface of the paint. I removed the whole bumper cover and took a heat gun to the area. Once the area is warm enough you can push out the ding by going slowly and taking your time. Just where gloves to push out the dent and you'll be able to feel the surface smooth out. A blow dryer will do the same just not as much immediate heat which is a good thing if you're unsure about getting to0 close and melting plastic or burning yourself. There are a few posts about removing the bumper cover, just remove the clips around the trunk and remove the taillights.

Anything other than replacing the bumper and doing a repaint is not going to be a quality job. Considering you will need to remove the bumper to try and heat and pop it out, you might as well just bite the bullet and replace the bumper. Our cars have not reached the $5,000 value range where it's just as well we do an improvised job to get by. The entire job is not all that expensive anyway.
