About to buy a G!
About to buy a G!
Hey guys, currently have an '07 Audi A4, about to trade it in for a used g35, and I had a couple of questions: (you don't have to worry about me being a noob to car forums I've spent the last two years on audizine
so I know where the search button is)
A. I tried searching for this, but wasn't sure what to search exactly, so sorry if this has been asked time and time again: For audi's, there were two different types of OEM suspension: standard and sport.. Sport was about an inch lower.. Is there this difference in G35's? Some have been listed as having a "suspension package"..
B. I won't be getting an aftermarket suspension kit for a while, so keep that in mind. Should I go ahead and look for a car with the OEM 19" wheels, or should I find one without and use the difference to go aftermarket? My reason for asking is tied with the first question: If there are different suspension setups, is the 19" wheel package tied in with the suspension?
Thanks a ton for reading my long, probably horribly repetitive, first post.

The OEM 19" wheels come with the sport package, which is standard with a 6MT.
It is not any lower to the ground, just a firmer, sportier suspension. For more info about all of the packages, go to infinitihelp.com

Please, please, please, go test drive one before you bite the bullet. I love my G coupe BUTT, it's in an entirely different category than the Audi. Make sure it's not something that you will regret later. Don't come back and tell us several weeks later that we should have told you so.
I've heard the 350z, which I was also looking at but decided on the g35 instead, is a bad car to learn how to drive MT.. Is the same true for the g35?

So you've never driven a manual transmission before?
I've owned my G for about three months, and while I'd say I'm used to the clutch overall, I still have an occasional awkward moment. BUT I owned my previous car for six years, and obviously was extremely used to that clutch -- so I'm not all that surprised that it's taking me a lil' to adjust. Six years is a long time!

The G35 clutch is definitely not a clutch I'd reccomend attempting to learn on, the 6MT is a sportier, stiffer clutch which doesnt give you a lot of slack. What i mean by slack is that its the angry football coach the makes you run a lap everytime u screw up. I learned on a Honda, which is what I would recommend attempting to learn on. Plus, no reason to burn up the clutch on your new car anyway
