finally but what now?

Hey guys, new here although i been lurking around this forum for a bit of time. Just got myself an 03 AT coupe blk/blk and you shoulda seen the smile on my face driving it away ahhhh haha anyways I do have a few questions, i tried searching for it but no luck..maybe im just typing the wrong thing in.

-The previous owner has just done oil change and other fluid changes like transmission, breaks, etc etc but no differential fluid yet. its at 67k miles, is it important to get that change right away?

-On the last maintenance paper, it says that there was an oil leak before he came in to get it serviced. i dont see anywhere on the paper that it was fixed and i did look under the car and i didnt see any leak..does that mean it was just a loose gasket?

Also, should i consider changing the belts?
Im not an expert at car stuff so everything is always new to me. When i put the key on and turn it one over so the gauge lights turn on, it shows service soon and has that oil thing showing. But the car just recieved service..so does that mean anything?

ahh well thanks in advance guys

when you turn it one over thats the "acc" corect? if so then thats normal most of the lights come on when u turn it once over as long as they turn off when the car is fully on then your good if they stay on then you may have a problem

As far as differential fluid is concerned...it depends on your driving style. Some people change their diff fluid every 15k up to every 60k miles. I just passed the 30k mile mark so I changed it then. Fluid was still pretty clean; however, I have an 06 and bought the car with 10k miles on it so it was practically new when I bought it.

The oil leak may be in cylinder #6. I would check that area first because our cars are known to leak there. What I mean by check that area is pull the spark plug and see if there is oil on it or around that area. Also look at the valve cover gasket carefully and oil pan under the car. You could also try driving the car a little harder than normal and then checking to see if any oil is pushing out anywhere.

The belts should be changed every 60k so if that hasn't been done, I definitely recommend doing so now.

And like what the previous post said, as long as when the car is actually turned on there are no lights lit up on the dash you are good to go. Also, check your oil dipstick and make sure it is not running low. Good way to also check the oil amount the car is burning is get an oil change. Then every 1000 miles check the dipstick and note where the oil level is until you hit 3000 miles. If you are burning more than about 1 quart of oil every oil change (3000 miles) you should have an oil compression test done.

Hope that helps and try searching through the engine and maintenance threads before using the search link.

right now im pretty stock but some nice beginer mods would be a ztube, clear corners, rims, drop, tint, debadge, as for intake there are a ton to chose from most popular would be pop charger ive seen a few ingen and K&N typhoon...personaly i would go with K&N but they cost a pretty penny but start our with a ztube only 60 bucks i think on stillen.com the oem is around 85-100 but you can also talk to some Z drivers with aftermarket intakes you might wanna sell you their tube and if your driving a sedan and want a deeper sound go for a coupe middy not to expensive either

Welcome to driver and good luck! =)

I would have the differential fluid replaced, most non-car individuals don't realize there's gears back there also. There's no reason to get your G35 serviced at the stealership, find a reliable independent shop for all your service. We have a great bunch of members in your area, start posting on the NorCal section and get acquainted. Knowing them they'd be more than happy to help you make decisions and find reliable shops for service OR they'd even show you how....

alrite so its been a few weeks of driving my car. And im one of those with the fuel tank problem where it doesnt go to full when filling up. Im way out of warranty obviously..Should i go to the infiniti dealership and ask them to clean it out? or would they go on ahead and say i need to replace the system for $800 or whatever or just go to in indy shop and have them clean it out?

PM me your email address and I can send you the TSB. It tells you how to fix the problem if you want to try it yourself or get a mechanic to fix it.
