Damn Taco Bell curb!!
Got a pretty good 6 inch black rim lip gouge pulling up to a Taco bell speaker today. From previous posts, seems like it'll run about $150 thru the dealer to get a decent repair. I purchased the tire/rim insurance with my lease (since I got charged a load for rim damage by BMW when I returned my 330ci). Does anybody know if the insurance covers cosmetic damage or just major structural (ie rim replacement) type damage? And that damn burrito gave me the runs...

The insurance only covers damage that wasn't caused by negligence( ie hitting a curb)... Maybe you could say you hit a pothole/storm drain/etc... From what I remember though, if it wasn't negligence, than everything is covered... Cosmetic, tires, etc... Especially Taco Bell, that stuff will stink up the car like no other. Sorry about the wheel though!Guest

Holy sh*t I did that SAME exact thing in my G many months ago! I was at a f*cking Taco Bell drive-through, they have a HUGE curb on both sides and it's like a f*cking obstacle course to get through. The only place I could find that would do it wanted $300 and 3-4 days to respray the whole wheel.
I bought wheel primer, wheel paint, and clearcoat wheel paint and I did the best job I could to fix it myself. It still shows exactly what I curbed that rim, but it's a lot better than before (I sanded the surface down before applying the primer and the wheel paint, I haven't applied the clearcoat yet).

The rim insurance offered through Infiniti only covers the rim if it is rendered useless. Cosmetically it could look like crap, but if the tire can stay inflated on the rim, then Infiniti will not do a thing.
