You are probably better off selling your car and buying a 6SPD.

Too many variables, but I can tell you 3500 is not even close. I think GTM was once offering a turnkey transmission conversion somewhere in the $10-$15k range, other people on this board have done it for $6k including labor, if I remember correctly.

But again it all depends on factors like your location, what shop you're going to, how much of the work you're going to do yourself, whether you're buying new or used parts, aftermarket or OEM, miscellaneous unforeseen costs which always pop up in something like this, etc. I would say find your nearest reputable shop and let them tally it up for you...I'll tell you one thing though it isn't going to be anywhere near 3500.

Unless you have some super extensive work (built engine, widebody) on your 5AT, I'd swap out the parts and buy another car. But honestly, I'd just keep the 5AT; changing your transmission just isn't worth the $$ you'd lose in the process. And this is coming from a guy whose had 2 5AT G35's and a 6MT.

Your post confuses me:

You say you race lots of manual trans cars, with yours being auto.
I'm assuming you then have done a vb upgrade?

If not, I find it very hard to believe you're beating so many manual cars (in the sake of thinking these are all cars that have same if not similar power/weight ratio), since these cars are drive-by-wire and have lag.

VB upgrade eliminates that and then some.

Too much headache and expense to modify 5AT to 6spd. You might be better off just buying a manual G.

Remove all your parts, sell the G, buy a 6mt. Install back the parts. Done.

----
I converted my teg from an auto to a 5mt. Actually, I let a friend do it. Took him 3 days. Bought all my parts at ebay and the dealership. In the end, the car ran perfect and was a lot more fun to drive...

But good luck trying to do the same to a G....

You're going to need a custom tranny mount since the new tranny isn't going to use the same mounting point. You will also have a few extra wires hanging around and your check engine light with come on. Unless you get a new ecu off a 6mt.
