I hand wash my car in 20 degree weather. My car is too low for the automatics, so I have no choice.

Completely incorrect, it is very well known that automatic car washes are terrible for your car's paint.

OP you can buy a pc buffer and a few compounds and pads and do it yourself to take out the scratches. Then you can add a wax or sealant over the top to protect it. Or else you can go pay a professional every time you want to clean your car up.

Yes, I do detail my own cars. As you can see by my sig I have two black cars. Luckily one is new so it won't require as much prep work. Unfortunately Obsidian Black G35's are one of the pro detailers favorite cars. Yep...because the paint requires alot of maintenance. The most important part of detailing is the prep work, polishing the paint itself to a high gloss then sealing and deepening that shine with a sealant (my favorite) or a pure carnuba wax.

Blah both of these options require money lol. I guess I'll just have to take it to a detailing shop though.

Ah very cool my good sir. and since I have no experience in the art of detailing cars I will probably have to take it to a detailing shop and have my wallet raped.

Lol.. isn't that near room temperature? It would be awesome to hand wash a car if it was that warm out. Canada... -_-'

(It's -28 hear right now + wind chill)

US uses Fahrenheit normally, not Celsius. It would be room temp if it was.

-28 Celsius here, so -18.4 Fahrenheit . My hand would freeze to my car *laughs*

I would always prefer to hand wash my car, but when I can't, I will begrudgingly go to a touch-less wash.

Just figure you'll only really need to compound it once in a long time as long as you wash n maintain the car properly after you get it done
