BMW switched to a single turbo to get better emissions and fuel economy. So far they have not been able to make as much power as the twin turbo one, but it'll probably change eventually.

If your going to mod, your better off starting with the twin turbo.

Also keep in mind cars experience a majority of there depreciation the first 3yrs of owner ship and insurance rates become cheaper after the car hits 3yrs of age.

Its smarter just to let someone else take the depreciation hit and just buy extended factory warranty via cpo.
