2008 328I Coupe or 2008 G37 Coupe?

Hey guys, i have been a proud owner of 05 g36 coupe for about 3 years but now i decided to move on...

Only i can't decide on my next purchase... So I decided to ask your opinions.
Some of you might experience one or maybe both of these cars.
they are mostly around the same price, however with g37 i seem to have more options and more power. In bmw the navi packages seems to be alittle more expensive.
I don't want to go for the 335 since it is more expensive and i heard some issues with that. so i am willing to sacrifice power.
I always wanted to drive bmw but i also fell in love with my g35 so one side of me says go with new thing and get a bmw( even with less performance) or got with the family again

what would you guys choose??
thank you in advance.

Either stay with the g35, get a 335i, or get a 2009+ g37 if AT. If 6MT then the 2008 is prob fine.

dont do a 328... just seems sub par.

I have driven manual all my life. But now i know that i definetly will go for AT.
So whats wrong with 2008 ATs?

and 2 choices only, either 2008 3238 coupe at or 2008 g37 coupe at.

The 2008 AT G37's are 5-speeds. 09+ are 7-speeds.

7AT sounds a lot cooler than 5AT

I'll agree though, definitely keep the G35 over a 328i. If you feel you must upgrade, get the G37 or pay the extra for a 335i. 328i is more like a downgrade really...

I don't know how much Infinitis cost to repair usually for electrical problems and small BS, but I've worked at a Mercedes service center before and with BMWs and seeing how much people paid for diagnostics and simple things made me want to not touch German cars with a 10 foot pole. I decided to go *** with the Infiniti, or Acura/Lexus

Been there and done that. I had a 335i coupe (6 MT) along with a 135i coupe (6 MT). Both had HPFP issues, had to replace 2 fule pumps on the 335i along with 3 on the 135i coupe. As much as I had liked both cars I am happy I made a switch to my current G35 coupe. And I would not consider a 328i coupe personally.

True stick with the g37, 328 I think would be taking a step back after having a g35. *If your gettin a 3 series if it aint a 335 or m3 your wasting your money We have a 335i and yes like "RMA" said *they are a PITA they need a lot of upkeep.. It needed a new fule pump before it even hit 30k the best thing bout BMW is that you don't have to pay for anything if your still under the warrenty... You don't pay for oil change or anything... BMW's are just great cars but man oh man I been to the Beverly hills BMW *dealer so many times... You know you been there so much when you know half the staff in the service dept by first and last name! * * * **

I call BS. Switching from a 335 and 135 to a G35 makes you happy? Financially maybe, but for pure driving pleasure, acceleration, braking, and over all refinement, BMW winds hands down.

In fact, having sampled all cars, and having owned a G35, and now a G37, I would venture to say that even comparing a 328 to G35/37, even though there is an obvious difference in power, I'd give the nod to the 328 when it came to every day ergonomics, drivability, fuel economy, and handling.

With both of these cars, either the BMW or Infiniti, once they are out of warranty, the dealership will rape you on parts and labor. I'd go for a 335 myself since they are the same price as 08 G37s now, plus their warranties on the fuel pumps has been extended to 120k miles/10 years, and all cars which have not gotten the updated parts will get them retrofitted free of charge.

Or like someone else said, spend a few more bucks and go for a 09 G37 with the 7 speed. Gas economy is much better, and all the bugs were pretty much sorted out (peeling dash, rattling exhaust, front brake issue..ect)

You obviously never owned a german car before. Yes the bmw will feel better in terms of driving experience then the infinite, that is a fact. I use to own a modded Mercedes C32 AMG up to 450hp and 425tq crank. I miss that car every day, but i also spent a small fortunate on that car.

I did most of labor myself and it still cost a ton to maintain because parts were still expensive, even if you buy it from the internet. Electrical components would break all the time and if electrical component malfunctions, the whole car goes into safe mode.

Everyday something would break. The g35 is a decent car in terms of handling and power but you don't have to worry about something breaking all the time. I can relate to RMA's feelings.

The HFP is a huge issue on the 335i, which is another reason that stopped me from getting it, but if you get it warranty its not a big issue. BMW roadside assistance is pretty efficient so it not a huge issue except for the lost in time.

RMA probably got sick a known defective part breaking all the time even after bmw went through at least two revisions of the same part. Its not just finances lost but time as well.

If something breaks on the g35 is cheap to fix and it doesn't happen often so it's not a big deal.

To the OP,

keep the g35 and save for a cpo 335i. THe 328 will feel slow as donkey ***** and your always going to wish you save a little more and got the 335i. Not many people can spend just $600 on a juice box and have close to 400hp crank, 500hp crank with supportiing mods and bolt ons. The bmw auto also shifts faster then the manual as well. I would get it with the paddle shifters though.

Thank you all for your comments.

I am an admitted 3-series suck-up (totally obsessed with M3s), though I've always know about high mileage BMWs' maintenance BS.

Between the constant inconveniece and the cost? Forget that.

The G's relatively problem free @ 30K miles, nothing even worth mentioning; basic stuff.

So, having been advised to stick with the properly built M3s, I may have just made my mind up for the next ride...........one or the other:

IS-F
C63 AMG (Coupes available soon! Woohooo!)
M3

or..........last resort

G37X Coupe Hooligan-Mobile

Mmmm.......good point. Dinan's like the Stillen of BMWs.

Or, if you prefer, the ALPINA of the entire U.S. market......since those chumps won't let us buy all of what the Euros get - the ALPINA B3s and B5s. What up wit that?

B7s are quite sweet & beastly - saw one about a week ago, up close I WANT ONE!!

That said, icrazy2u, do you think the 335is would be a worthy compromise?

Kinda like M3-quality workmanship minus the 328/335 problem issues noted above? (Thought to self: What is this, a buy-a-bimmer-instead-of-an-Infiniti thread? Disloyal f.....oops, my bad! Finger almost slipped.)

School me. Please.
