bad bulbs or bad installation?

whats up guys. ive had the 06 projectors on my coupe for around 8 months now and had no problems up until i had a local (very well reputed) body shop install my 6000k D2S bulbs for me. now, sometimes ill start my car and my driverside headlight will be out. if i flip the switch enough times itll eventually turn on. also, while driving, the driverside bulb goes in and out occasionally. is the problem due to a crap bulb or is the bulb just loose in the headlamp?

thanks in advance

Sounds like your bulb could be loose or a loose electrical connection. Check ur bulb first then if the problem persist then u will have to trouble shoot with a volt meter.

I believe the bulbs have a cap on them which is held in place by a clip. They are either plugged in, or not.

see vid I found:

Are they aftermarket bulbs? Something other then a Phillips? They may just be poorly made. Other then that you might have a ballast that is failing.

Maybe your ballast is dying and you didn't notice until you changed your bulbs.

You don't have to remove the bumper to get to the bulbs. Take off the wheel, undo the front part of the fender liner, and pull it back towards the back of the car. You'll have plenty of access to the back of the headlights to inspect the bulbs and housings.

i think its both. if you just purchased the good headlight bulb then this will not happen at all then followed up by poor installation then you got ripped off by this two problems. better checkout some helpful sites on the web for the repair tip.

It is your bulbs. Cheap HIDS will flicker, blink, and go out like yours is doing right now. Where did you buy them from?

Saw the same thing happen on a friends WRX. He had to turn the lights on and off sometimes to get a side to work. Turns out it was something about the wiring, a few DRL equipped cars need it wired slightly differently. Maybe ask the shop to check yours out again?

Did you buy the HID and get it installed at the same shop? If so, they should warranty their work, no?

I say it's a connection problem, not the bulb.

I'm sure you know this but regarding changing bulbs - I found it difficult to do the turning the wheel and trying to change bulbs behind the wheel lining. So I just undid the top snap plugs and a few screws on each side near the side marker lights and you can sag the bumped down to about 1inch off the ground and it gives you space to remove the headlights. It doesnt seem necessary to undo all those bottom clips and screws to remove it completely.

Hopefully this helps someone save some time lol.
