A. Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning Procedure.
1. Make sure that the accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
3. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
4. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
5. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds (how would you know if you get it right?)

B. Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning
1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch is “ON”.
3. Turn ignition switch is “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
Make sure that the throttle valve moves during above 10 seconds by confirming the operating sound (i never get this right because i never heard anything)

C. Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning)
It's best to time with a watch/clock.
1. Perform “Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning”.
2. Perform “Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning”.
3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Turn ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds.
5. Conform that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
6. Repeat the following (steps 7a, 7b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
7a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD)
7b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the Check Engine Light (CEL) stops
blinking and turned ON.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the CEL is ON.
10. Start engine and let it idle.
11 Wait 20 seconds
12Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure the idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications. (this is fine because SES light lets you know if you did it right the way it blinks)
ok guys so i finally got around to doing this procedure today! i did it twice because i wasnt sure if i did it properly the first time...anyways, im still unsure if i did this properly because nothing really happened and in the last part of section c where it says "this is fine because ses light lets you know if you did it right the way it blinks" my light never blinked, neither the first or second time i did it...so im lost.....to date ive cleaned my throttle body with the battery unplugged, and ive tried this relearn procedure....it two weeks the car has died on me 3 times, other than that the ses light permanently stays on and although its annoying seeing that light on, the car drives nice!

I NEED TO GET RID OF THE LIGHT FOR GOOD!

no need, take out a stopwatch and you will get it in a couple of tries... took me 4 with the stopwatch. print/write down the instruction and as you're doing a long one just read on to the next one. also, when it says "at least x seconds" i usually give it another second, and when doing the timing dont start and stop the watch, just keep adding time to whats already on the clock.

so heres what my clocked looked like...
step 1: 0 seconds
by the start of step 2: 0 seconds
by the start of step 3: 0 seconds
by the start of step 4: 0 seconds(clock starts on this step)
by the start of step 5: 11 seconds
by the start of step 6: 11 seconds
by the start of step 7a: 14 seconds
by the start of step 8: 19 seconds
by the start of step 9: 48 seconds(took mine about 22 seconds for the SES light to stop blinking)
by the start of step 10: 49 seconds
by the start of step 11: 49 seconds
by the start of step 12: 1:19(i waited 30 seconds)

yours dont have to be exactly these values but thats what mine was at. i just used my ipod touch to do it. and sry i cant find the procedure to remove the CEL...

Hey I appreciate that, but would you mind matching those numbers up with the instructions? It's going to be a little hard looking at your values and looking at instructions all the while trying to perform the instructions. Lol
