Looking into buying my first G35....help a n00b

First off, Hi everyone!

Been browsing through here and reading the high mileage G's thread to help me decide on this car.

Car is Here

I went and drove the car and it drove like a dream compared to the 2001 Mustang V6 I have now.

Problems I noticed were:

Front grill is cracked down the middle.
Airbox duct secured with zip ties.
Rims look like someone drove down a 100 yard curb.
TPMS light on
VSS light on
CEL on
Vinyl seat comin up in one part.
Car is listed for $16,995

Obviously I would like to get the car, and 80k miles doesn't seem that bad for these cars. I put in $14k for an offer but the dealer hasn't even began negotiating yet. He is going to have the car looked and and hopefully fixed Monday so I can stop by in the afternoon and try it again. Should I try to go lower than $14k?

The car felt like a rocket ship compared to the Mustang (which will be traded in) and Civic (Which will become my daily until I get something else) we own, but this car will mainly be for commuting back and forth for my wife to work. (60 miles a day x 4 days a week). I will drive it when she is not and it seems like a car we would both enjoy. I love performing my own maintenance although this car seems a tad more sophisticated than my old turbo Integra I previously owned.

With all those lights on your crazy to pay that. I would have only offered them 14k to start with the stuff fixed.

These cars do not make good commuter cars. Just to let you know. They are pigs.

I'd steer clear of that car. Sounds like a mess. I got mine for $16k, it was in near perfect condition, 70k miles.

That's a very high price. When I was looking for my G all the dealerships were asking about the same price. They kept trying to tell me that the coupe sells very quick and that they are rare. I picked my 03 6mt up with 80k on the clock, nearly flawless interior and body, and in perfect running condition for eight thousand. I have no idea what year the one your looking at is because the link wouldn't open properly on my phone but 16k with all those problems sounds crazy to me.

Would be perfect except I am in Monroe, Louisiana. I pretty much need one now or at least before the new year. I will see what I can do with the one I've already found and keep my eyes open for more, along with a buddy in the DFW area.

It can be shipped to you at your cost - if you like I can find out send me PM. I have a good transport company, has shipped for me before. It takes a week from OC to Monroe, LA

That's way too much money with all those issues.

I bought my 05 "sport" 6MT with OEM 19's for around that price in perfect condition.

It doesn't even have OEM 19's and probably doesn't have the sport suspension either...You can find a way better deal. You could probably find an 06 sport with that mileage for under 20k.

Way too high of a price. I've got an 04 for sale with brembos & all the options minus navi with 75k on the odo and I'm having trouble selling it for $15k. Not too many people are looking to buy a RWD car during the Chicago winter.

Seems high with that high mileage/issues. Try looking further north. A lot of people who experience winter are looking to get rid of their summer cars this time of year. You should see all the coupes for sale around here right now.
