trunk cant open...

trunk cant open...

my trunk cant open and i went to my dealership have them to do a inspection.
they "found a broken wire in main body harness trunk area. unable to locate exact point of breakage."

any idea what should i do?? i mean they said it will cost $400. anything else i can do that will cheaper and still fix it??

No sir there isn't a quick fix. Best thing to do is cut the rubber wire cover open and you wil see the broken wire or wires as soon as you cut it open,once you have put the wires back together you can wrap it up with electrical tape to seal it all back up.

That sucks.
I had the "trunk won't open" problem twice within 6 months.
Each time, they found and repaired the wire. of course, the second time they said that it was a different wire than the first. ($200 per )

hopefully you took out the dead body before your trunk malfunctioned..

Dealership fixed that for me for about $250.

the dealership in SD quote me for $390, not including the inspection for other $130....

Wow that sucks my car is still under the elite extended warranty so riverside Infiniti only charged me $150 to repair it. Diagnostic was free.

If money were an issue, I'd just buy a roll of 22 gauge wire form my local auto parts store and spend an hour or two routing a new wire from the trunk switch to the latch release. That might not make the remote release work, but at least I'd be able to get the trunk open.
