Question Incorrect fuel gauge TSB?

I have searched the forums and have some helpful threads concerning a fuel gauge problem that has struck many g35 coupe owners. Well, unfortunately it has blessed my coupe with its presence, and I want to get it fixed under warranty.

My question is what should I have myself armed with when I show up at the dealership?

Is this problem so well known that it won't be a problem getting it fixed?

This is covered under warranty, right? I have an 04 with 12k on it.

Was there really a TSB on this issue? I was unable to find it at edmunds, or in the TSB forum.

Thanks for your help!
-Chris

No TSB that I know of, but whereever you get service, you can bet they have had some experience with this issue. It's fairly common from what I've read on our site.

so it's not the gauge itself? it's the fuel sending unit?

That's right. It's a problem with the unit in the tank itself.

There are actually two units in the tank. One transfers fuel from one tank to the other. Both of mine have been replaced. Works like new.

My car did this once, I force fed it, and it hasn't happened again since!

Did all of you have this replaced under warranty? Is it safe to assume that if it is covered under warranty, that all costs involved with this fix will be $0.00 out of my pocket?

Thanks,
-Chris

Yes I had this problem and they fixed it free of charge. I even got to take an FX35 out for the day. They replaced the sending unit and the fuel pump when they fixed the problem.
