Crack in dashboard
#46
I bought an 06 coupe 3 months ago, ALWAYS garage kept, immaculant shape, absolutely flawless 38,000 miles, and a small crack @ vin tag appeared today, not noticable unless you look directly at it, but knowing its there is killing me, i dont know if it is drying out because its moist and sticky near the crack and you can remove material by rubbing on it. This cant be just a coincidence.
you could start with your dealer, see what he has to say and then Infiniti Consumer Affairs. IF dealer can bat for you then you can have your dash replaced for free.

That's the way mine started. It actually looked like a scratch at first. The cracks have widen now and it is spreading to the center intrament panel. I've gotten no response from the T.V. channel that said they would take the case 6 mths ago. I'm sure bigger news items stold the spotlight.
I still get annoyed when I see Infinity advertizments on T.V. hyping their luxury car.
Mine is babied and garage kept, this is oviously a defective product. I was interested in getting an EX, but this has sure slowed that decision.
Good Luck, they do make a dash mat, I've been hesitant to purchase it. They look cheezy on line?/

When i bought my car i knew there would be issues. Even though it appears to be brand new, Its six years old. I am just glad that there are absolutely no other issues. I do baby the hell out of it though, Royal Purple every 2k miles. Its excessive i know but what the hell. I love driving it but dont really plan to keep it beyond 60k miles. None of these manufactures care about the customer beyond the sale. case in point porsche and the 911 996/997 engine design. the IM shaft bearing "inside the engine" failing after such a short period. They have still done nothing about it! What are you gonna do just goin to TRADE UP and not with another Infinity

I have two 10 yr old Infinities, no regrets. I'll buy an Infiniti in a heartbeat as I rarely have issues that I could not resolve through my dealer or Infiniti. IMHO Infiniti's are the best value for your $$$$$ in all most all aspects: power, design, reliability and life. My 03 Coupe (bought it in 2002) has over 125k miles and it looks almost new:

I'm not sure if you can see the warps. It looks like between the warps is where the airbag is located. Does anyone have any idea why those 2 warps would be there where the airbag is? Thanks in advance. Ive searched around and nobody else has had this issue but maybe someone has insight about what might have caused this.

yes, i can see it, I have same thing like a long bubble lines on both sides (L &R) of the airbag spot but it's on the FX not the G35. It has to do with space around passenger airbag module, the dash top material (laminate) seems to be separating from base material. Don't know if much can be done but I'll ask my dealer and see what he may say. I have seen smaller lines like this on steering wheel bag also.

I have the same issue. Mine is cracked around the VIN corner and the passenger corner, also, there's a crack that goes in the middle all the way from left to right. Its really disappointing. Over here in PR Lexus replaces all of their dashes for free because they recognize that is made from a cheap material and that they are a "luxury" brand and that shouldn't happen. I don't care how old my car is, I have a friend with a 1997 Montero that doesn't have a single crack in the dash! My car is a 2005 AT sedan and the only time it sees sunlight in a parking is at college for maybe 3 hours.
