Tints: Classy or Trashy
Tints: Classy or Trashy
I recently got my 2 front windows un-tinted, and am in the process of removing some taillight tint due to way too many tickets. Since I've gotten my tints off, some people have said that the car looks more classy, and it doesn't look like a drug dealer is driving the car. This may have to do with the fact that my car is all black, so with the 5% tints, it was murdered out. Now I am curious. Do you think window/tail light tint is classy or trashy?
lol Agreed.
For real though, I think too dark is a bit tasteless......I'm a fan of 35% personally. Just enough to protect the interior and take some sun light away without looking ghetto fabulous.

Living in FL, tint can't be too dark. I've NEVER heard of anyone calling a dark tint "trashy"....that's a first to me. Every high end car down here has a dark tint. It's a necessity down here. Dunno how it is in other areas of the U.S. but down here 1. The sun destroys your interior. 2. The sun makes your car HOT as hell to drive around in whether you're in motion or it's been parked outside for awhile. 3. Without tint I feel like I'm in a fish bowl where everyone is looking at me. 4. People break into cars they know have valuable items in them...if they can't easily see in, they're much less likely to risk getting caught breaking into a car for nothing.
Now if you have mirror tint, colored tint, or holographic tint.....that's a bit much. But this is the first time I've ever heard of someone referring to a dark tint as "trashy" or like a "drug dealer" lol.

Tint is classy IMO. Fishbowls look weird. Too dark isn't the greatest but it's better than nothing. Somewhere in the 20-35% range is $$$

the murdered out look at 5% and dark tail light tints could be seen as trashy.... but some people like it
I personally hate that look... it doesn't suit our luxury cars. Stick with 35% tints not too dark but still adding a bit of protection from sun, theft, etc.

I'm also one who likes a little privacy when I'm driving. If I want people to see me I'd lower the windows but I really don't want to be bothered when I'm driving. I'm actually going to get the windows retinted since the ones on my car now don't look that great and the rear window was done with a cutout for the brake light, which bothers the heck out of me.
35% on my sedan front/rear. a little too light for a hot sunny day but perfect at night
20% front/rear on my coupe. love it during the day but sometimes its hard to see at night if there are no lights
both look good to me.

+1 ^ A very light tint on the tails can make it look nice, especially on a DG. The bright red kind of pops TOO much imo.
But a lot of people forget that if you go TOO dark on your tint (5%) then your car will actually get HOTTER than if you didn't have tint. After a certain % (I believe it's 20% or 15%) then the tint actually stops rejecting the heat, and starts absorbing it. I had 5% on my old car for about 2 months in the summer. After noticing that my car was extremely hot all the time, I asked the tint guy why, and he explained this to me. I got it removed, and had 35% all around put on. It's honestly perfect. Just enough privacy, the best heat rejection, looks classy as ffuu. It's what I have on my G also. And it's just light/dark enough for me to not be hassled by the cops, even in VA. I didn't get one ticket in my old car with the 35% and have yet to in my G with 35%.

I haven't tinted my car windows yet. Been holding out on it because tint laws in CA are so bs..

I'm really ocd and things being even and symmetrical if I were to only tint the back windows then to me it would look weird.. if I could do 40% all around I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I had 5% all the way around. I got nothing but complements on it... besides cops. I had to go with 35% front 2 and kept the 5% on the back. I think it looks odd with different % tints. Just me though. The way I see it its no one's business to see whos driving if I dont want them too. I mean if you get pulled over the officer makes your roll the window down anyway...
