Hey guys,

Woke up this morning and tried to put my '03 auto coupe in drive and it's locked. Stepped on the brakes and the VDC Off, Slip, and ABS lights come on. Turn the car off and on again, lights are off, but come on the moment I step on the brakes and still won't allow me to shift.

Any idea what the issue may be? Thanks.

You can try to use the shift lock to release the transmission. Also check the brake fluid level, might be low with that combination of lights on.

I honestly dont even remember which fuse it was, it was the fuse box located inside on the driver side, there should be a diagram on the cover of which fuse is which.

That's good to know. I will give it a shot after work today. Hopefully I can dig up a diagram somewhere.

Thank you! Hope this solves the issue.

You may have gotten hit with one of those things from fast and furious that disables your ECU.

So, it the brake light fuse was blown. Changed it and the car worked fine and I was able to shift out of park and drive around. Halfway through the drive, the lights came back on. I parked and wasn't able to put it back into drive anymore.

Checked the fuse and it was blown. Tried one more fuse and this one blew up too.

Any idea what may be causing this?

Just took it to the shop. Apparently one of the wires from my spoiler tail light went bad which was causing it to short the fuse every time I step on the brakes.

Getting the issue resolved now. Thanks for all the help!

This happened to me twice on my '04, about 3 months apart. A brake light fuse blew both times. After each time, the dealer found a problem in the wiring harness and fixed it. Hasn't happened again since, and it's been a year.

You can drive the car in this condition by sticking something like a skinny screwdriver into the shift lock hole, which will allow you to shift. Unfortunately in my case, no brake lights, and I think I almost got rear-ended 3 times on the way to get it fixed.

I had the same issue and I was able to fix the problem by replacing fuse #20. I googled the web for the diagram.
