Hi I'm new!! I got questions to gain knowledge

I have a 2005 g35 coupe 5AT

I just recently started moding my car. I have done a takeda short ram Intake and true dual borla catback exhaust.. I am looking for more air flow and a lil better performance.

I can't decide on getting motordyne art pipes

Or going with

Motordyne xyz pipe with berk hfc's

I don't know what would be a better suit for my borla exhaust. Anyone with knowledge on this would be great help thanks once again.

I dunno, man borla is a really good company. You can definitely get more airflow on the intake side with a motordyne plenum spacer tho.

If you decide to get rid of the borla tho, hmu.

I have a motordyne 5/16 plenum spacer already.

Oh, well in that case you're not gonna get any more noticeable power gains from breather mods. The G does not respond well to breather mods.

Yes, but the power gain is minimal. I don't condone taking off the cats or changing to high flow tho. But yes they improve flow slightly. You wanna be careful with flow too because too much flow can lead to tq loss. Headers for instance are known for causing power loss with our cars.

The power gain is better then he says. Double it with a tune and you have a work of art!

Headers don't cause power loss... Come on.

You have to get a tune though with many mods. That is a universal truth.

just get art pipes if you already have a exhaust and md spacers, art pipes is probably the best performance bolt on that we have for our cars.. plus a uprev tune and you'll be set

and dont listen to the other dude above, headers dont lose power for your car, its just that they're not worth the price for the performance you get out of them. you pay a **** load for labor and the headers itself and they dont even give you that much results either.

Yes and no.

There is such a thing as having too much flow in your exhaust system. It affects what is known as scavenging and while you don't necessarily lose power, it could be shifted higher up in the RPM range and affect the usable torque curve. With most street cars, low end torque is more usable than top end HP.

Too many variables to issue blanket statements saying yes or no, but in my experience, i have seen situations where headers DO cause power loss on a dyno.

I see what your saying, scavenging is an important part of exhaust systems and the large porting may cause less of it. Tony's post on this really goes into detail. OP, if you are smart you won't put headers on the car. It costs a lot and this late in the G's game it may not be worth it.
